The Great House is a restored old home with pretty and comfortable rooms (and a powerful shower), but we had some issues with our stay. The room's curtains did not block out enough light at night, so the room was much brighter than we are used to for sleeping, which caused us some issues. Also, we expected breakfast and were even told at check-in the times that breakfast was served, but when we went to the breakfast area, it was completely closed. We asked at the desk about it, and after they checked further, we were told, "I'm sorry, I thought there was breakfast, but it is closed." For one night, it was not a big deal, but we were definitely disappointed. The staff we encountered were cordial, but again, it was not what we expected for our stay there. Next time we are going to choose another location.

I remember the original incarnation of this hotel and the transition has been well done. The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. I can't say enough about the Tree House servers and Kelsie at front desk and Leroy for the airport transfer. At this point there is only one restaurant. It has a somewhat limited menu and the dishes are somewhat inconsistent; however when they get it right it's very good. The newly renovated rooms are "clean" in design, however some basic functions are missing (clothes storage, hooks, comfortable work chair, non-functioning outlets). Pillows were not comfortable. As a business traveler it was not ideal, (no business centre facilities, suitable work chair as mentioned), but if you are on holiday in Belize City you will appreciate this property.
