"This was my second time staying at the Golden Retreat with my girlfriends and it was just as wonderful as the last time we stayed. We spent 4 nights here to celebrate a long Galentine's weekend. This house is the perfect little cozy cottage to gather with loved ones and take a break from reality. The views of the icy lake were great and Kristi is always VERY responsive to messages. We've stayed here twice in February but hope to book it again in the spring/summer to enjoy some outdoor time on the lake. Thank you again for your hospitality and attention to detail 3"

"In the summer, this place is probably great as the other reviews have indicated. However, I would strongly recommend not staying here in the winter. The temperature fluctuated too much to be comfortable, the lighting is glaring blue fluorescent overheads with no bedroom lamps in either room. The bed was made with a top sheet and a summer quilt with no extra blankets in the building. When we asked for more blankets, the owner brought one old throw blanket for our family of five. We ended up finding other places to sleep to avoid the uncomfortable beds and temperatures. Additionally, there is a sign posted indicating that when you cook, the fire alarm will go off. "

The property was amazing, clean, and comfortable, and we had a great weekend once again. The host was wonderful — very friendly, quick to communicate, and made us feel completely welcomed.
