De Keyserlei has always been a main street in the centre of Antwerp. This street, which connects Antwerp Central Station with Teniersplaats, where you can admire a statue of the Flemish painter David Teniers the Elder, was the first main road that did not connect to a city gate.
If you feel like shopping, this is the place to be. One side of De Keyserlei is full of shops, while the other side is lined with restaurants and bars. Century Center is a good place to start your shopping spree. This small, covered shopping mall has some 30 shops where you can buy anything from fashion to books. Turn into a side street and head for the Quellin Shopping Center where you will find international chain stores as well as some great furniture stores. Shopping whets the appetite and fortunately you don't have to go far to find something to fill the hole in your stomach. De Keyserlei is lined with restaurants and pubs that offer everything from fast food to haute cuisine. End the day with a film at UCG Antwerp, which has several theatres showing the latest (international) blockbusters.
De Keyserlei is easy to reach by car or public transport. If you're travelling by train, book your ticket to Antwerp Central Station. Walk out of the station and you're there. If you're travelling by car, you can park for a fee at one of the many parking structures on De Keyserlei and the surrounding streets.
