Large Cabin with Stunning View - Fire Pit, Relax & Unwind

  • Get away and recuperate! Nestled in the trees high above the water, the Overlook Cabin offers a peaceful, comfortable, and intimate experience of the Ohio River, with a large riverfront window, 8x12ft deck, & jacuzzi bathtub. The 12x40ft space has a queen bed, two twins, and a couch, and would be great for families, hunters, or couples. Dogs/cats/pets welcome. Cabins stocked with complimentary locally-sourced coffee. Large outdoor area for kids to play, a picnic or campfire, gas grill available, climbing dome, and a path down to the river for hiking or fishing (Please note that people have varying experiences with the path to the river -- the path is a little rocky and can be muddy after a rain, but for those without mobility issues it's rarely an issue to reach the river when the weather is good). Lots of hiking/hunting in the area, about four miles from a boat launch (KH Butler), and 15-minutes from a cute little town. Free parking on site. Free wifi. Smart TV & DVD player available. Owners live onsite should any issues arise.

Such a cute little cabin! My boyfriend and I enjoyed making smores at the fire pit. My only complaint was the factory across the street being a bit loud when you’re sitting outside but this place still deserves 5 stars! Hoping it’s available again for the Mothman festival next year

Comfy cabin

We enjoyed our overnight stay here with our three dogs. The cabin is very clean and comfortable, and it was a real treat to have a hot breakfast served the next morning!

We loved the location of the house - overlooking the Ohio. Sitting on the porch watching the boats was delightful. The house was clean and comfortable, the hostess super friendly, the breakfast excellent.

Perfect location clean and new.

The wife and I were in town for a short stay. The cabin was new clean and had every amenity needed. The view from being right on the river was absolutely amazing. The host was very accommodating to our specific needs. We will certainly stay again when we come back

Relaxing getaway

It was very clean and the perfect spot to get away from the city. It's a great place to bring your dog if th like water our dog did not want to leave. The property owners stayed in contact with us to make sure everything was good with the property and to see if we needed anything. We plan on coming back in the near future.

Our stay was wonderful. The cabin was very clean and quaint. Breakfast brought to our door in the morning was a nice touch. We went to visit the Mothman Museum which was beautiful easy 30 minute drive. It was exactly what we were looking for at a great price. Communication was great as soon as I made the reservation. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to stay. There is an "industrial" area right across the river which gave off a constant hum but, it didn't really bother me much. And the patio on the back overlooking the Ohio river was the perfect place to enjoy breakfast and have a morning coffee.
The porch was spotless. Not a cobweb or bird poop to be found.

We had a fine time staying in your Cedar Cabin! All the amenities were as promised, no shortages and some in excess! Everything worked exactly as it should. The view from the deck on the back of the cabin was quite enjoyable; watching the riverboats and barges cruise up and down the Ohio River was fascinating (our dog enjoyed being out there too : ) ! You and Gina were wonderful, and oh the breakfasts Gina made were delicious. My Wife and i would come back for those if for nothing else. I also recommend the City of Gallipolis and surrounding area; if you're looking to get away from the bustle of the big cities this is a great place to do so, many interesting attractions and don't miss dinner at the Tuscany Italian Restaurant, very good fare. We absolutely recommend a stay at your wonderful gem of a getaway. Blessings on you and yours, Marc and Susan.

We checked in late and it was dark. Host responded to our text, came to help us if needed. I didn't see a hot tub... and there was no breakfast. I read somewhere there was but it's ok. The place allows family to all rest in one area together, which with kids is great. The river is pretty. Also it has 1 full or queen, 1 bunk bed. And a loft which is high up appropriate for a teen. And a small couch, not big enough to sleep on. So truly this would sleep 4-5. Unless you had a small kid ok to sleep on couch. I would go back :) they did have little snacks on the microwave like granola bars and a small coffee pot. Cute place, I'd love to see it in the summer. This is a good review not negative. You should check it out.

I liked how responsive the owners are and how quiet it is. The breakfasts are amazing - they give you a menu and bring it to your door when you want and it tastes great! The only downside is when it's super cold out, the floor gets cold, but they do run space heaters in addition to the regular heater and even put down extra rugs. The cabin is on stilts since it's right on the river so I think some insulation under the floor would make it perfect!

Great Stay

My b/f and I needed to get away for a brief break. This was ideal for us, a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle, plus free breakfast? Score! While this place may not be centrally located for some, do not be fooled. You are only 10-15 minutes from the town of Galipolis Ohio which offers all your big box stores and restaurants. Additionally we visited Charleston WV (35-40 minutes away), Huntington WV (20 minutes away). Ashland KY is also only 20 miles south of Huntington as well. I imagine most people would stay in the summer months, but we enjoyed 2 days in February with snow and it was beautiful.

Even though our visit was short, this was the perfect place for us to spend the night. There was minimal noise and sitting on the deck watching the river traffic on the Ohio river was awesome! Our 7 year old granddaughter was with us - great opportunity to teach about river traffic and the importance of it for our country. I cannot say enough good things about the breakfast we received. Beyond all expectations--it was DELICIOUS! Between the three of us, we had waffles, a breakfast sandwich, tots, and an omelette. Delivered to our door!!! The host was exceptional with communicating! Do not hesitate making plans to stay here!
