Perch - Island Hideaway in Historic Nature Reserve
Welcome to Island Hideaway–a slice of Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve and local history! Unwind in this peaceful 2 bed/1.5 bath home nestled in ~5 acres of forest. Freshly decorated, with walls of windows bringing the outside in, you will love this centrally located hideaway to explore the island. While the property is secluded and peaceful, it's centrally located, just 5 minutes drive to the historic waterfront shops and restaurants and 15 minutes to city conveniences.
Fun fact–this property was part of the original holding of one of the first settlers of Coupeville and had been in the previous owner's family for 5 generations. We hope to honor that history by sharing the acres of trees along with local touches with our guests. We are constantly curating and updating the home as we explore more ourselves.
The Island Hideaway is a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, one level rambler, approximately 1500 sqft. Freshly decorated, look for local touches and island adventures ideas in the home! All rooms are on one level with a step-free path to entry. Each bedroom has a queen bed. The living room has a 3rd queen bed (pull out sofa bed). Please refer to the listing photo for a floor plan.
• Kitchen is fully-stocked with appliances, cookware, silverware, basic condiments and coffee/tea • Dining table is set for 4 but can seat up to 6 with a table extension • Workspace/desk WFH area • High-quality beddings & linens • Onsite washer and dryer with detergent supplied for your laundry needs • Access to popular streaming TV services • Firewood provided for the wood burning stove • Outdoor dining set available for your use (seasonal). Slow down, breathe-in the outside, and explore all that the property has to offer. Walk the Cedar Path, check out the groves of cedars, hemlocks and firs, look for blooming rhododendrons all over the property in the Spring, pick fresh raspberries from the garden in the Summer for breakfast, check trees for apples and pears in the Fall. If you happen to be staying when snow falls, the property turns into a winter wonderland! Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you gaze at the rhodies. Cozy up by the wood burning stove, enjoy reading about the history of the area from the local books provided in the house, snuggle up for a movie night and games in the spacious living room!

We had a great visit in this home, it had everything we needed, the layout and amenities were great, our host was super kind and responsive, and we loved staying super close to Coupeville. Hope to be back soon!
The house was very clean and comfortable. the property was set in the woods --with the Rhododendrons just starting to bloom. We would stay there again.
The beds we’re very comfy and I felt right at home in this charming house. It was like being at my grandmothers house and had all the amenities I needed and more. New appliances and tv and beds were wonderful. And great location. Would stay here again!
Nice property and clean, with large backyard. Our only complaint was the smaller bedroom’s mattress was one of the worst we’ve slept in. But overall nice and quiet place near Coupeville.
Whidbey is a wonderful island. Enjoyed our visit with relatives in nearby Greenbank and appreciated the fenced yard for our dog. Easy drive as highway is close but quiet and peaceful in the house except when jets are flying! Husband enjoyed seeing the F 18’s land and take off. House had everything necessary for a comfortable stay.
My husband and I had a wonderful relaxing time in your home. It was so quiet and peaceful. Just what we needed. The only thing I would suggest, is to make the back patio a little more inviting. Maybe more chairs/pillows, an umbrella, pull weeds. But we really did enjoy our time there.
We came to visit some friends who are moving out of state soon and found this little home. It is a cute and charming older home and decorated very modernly with so many cute touches. Love that the owner had suggestions and fun little things to do like painting rocks and picking apples. My kids loved that! Also communication was extremely good, before I even had questions I was getting emails answering everything I could think of. Would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful stay! I felt like I was staying in a private cabin in the middle of a forest! So quiet, yet so close to everything . What a great place! Thank you
This property is very clean and feels homey. The Rick painting was great. It soon had so much fun. Great communication from property management. Only down side is this property isn't just NEAR the air force base, it's right next door. Jets taking off at unspecified times for many hours. Bring ear plugs.
We enjoyed the wildlife. We were able to get around on the Island Transport system to go on a whale watch and to hike the trails at Deception Pass. We spent some time in Coupeville and on Port Townsend, which was fun. The home was very comfortable and clean. I wasn’t able to upload photos, but we saw lots of interesting birds, dear and fun, and whales on our whale watch.
I live in the greater Seattle area but needed to be on Whidbey Island for 2 days of work. The place was perfect and relaxing and I didn’t have to deal with the ferry and traffic!
My family and I had a nice stay at this house. Tucked away off Route 20, felt private and was quiet. Nice garden, a little path to the woods, very clean and spacious. Comminucation with property manager was excellent. Would definitely stay again.
I had the most relaxing time away from a stressful renovation. Thanks so much!
It was simple checking in, the hardest part of the whole experience was turning off the highway to the peaceful home. I enjoyed walking the trails, the apple tree, the relaxing interior. I even painted a rock for the host and found an agate on the beach. Overall peaceful experience.. thanks!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to come back again when we can stay longer. The house was great, with a super comfy bed in the master bedroom. It was very clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, with lots of extras. The setting was so peaceful. I was able to relax outside with my morning coffee. And it was so convenient to the town of Coupeville, where we had a yummy dinner. This was our first time renting via VRBO, and the host made it super easy with clear check in/ check out instructions and house guidelines. It was a really pleasant experience for us.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The jets were way louder and more frequent than expected. Sometimes loud enough to shake the house and until midnight. We found a small spot of blood on the sheets. We ended up leaving 3 days early since no one could sleep. The smaller bedroom mattress is rock hard. Rest of the home seemed clean. The front and backyard felt abandoned since it’s not taken care of. Doesn’t feel like a place to vacation.

Great spot but many issues
We were plagued with tech issues. Door wouldn’t lock to no running water. We were moved to a different rental which I greatly appreciate but spent a day trying to activate tv.

The front door lock would not lock from the outside. We ended up using a key.The heater in the master bedroom made a very loud when operating, very annoying. There was a power outage for one day. The automatic generator did not function. There were no flashlights in the house.
We really liked visiting Whidbey Island but discovered that the naval air plane noise was much more bothersome than we had anticipated. The navy practices flight maneuvers most days of the week near Coupeville, in the afternoon (from 1.5 to 3 hrs) and again at night (from 9pm to midnight). The property manager did mention this in the description, but we thought it would be just a few passes overhead periodically. We were traveling with a senior dog who is very noise sensitive (frightened of fireworks and thunderstorms) and this was much much worse than either of those things. It was really painful watching her suffer during the airplane noise. If you are traveling with animals or children on the autism spectrum this will not be the place for you. Other than that, property was as described.
