Charming cabin, very private, short distance to historic Columbia State Park lots of great walks. Plenty of activities in the area or perfect for just staying in for a night.
Very comfortable. Had everything we needed. We were even able to make a breakfast of pancakes and eggs.

We enjoyed our stay for Mother's Day weekend. The house and property exceeded our expectations, and the location was central to many activities. We will be back again!!
Great location and clean, cute, artsy house. Hosts Kim and Carl made sure we were ok even when a late spring snow storm knocked out power and closed the roads for a day—nice and snug.
This little house is the one of the best places we've ever stayed in. Just up the road from the town of Columbia. And the mosaic backspash in the kitchen area is so beautiful! The cute little garden area outside on is so peaceful!
I stayed here for a week and then added two more days because I loved it so much. It is a very sweet, private cabin with a lovelybackyard from which youcan watch the turkeys and deer mosey on by.But my favorite was the absolutely gorgeous sunset every night.
The bungalow was perfect - clean, cozy, private with a fully fenced yard for our pup, too! Kim was a dream to work with. Only 20 minutes to Murphys, less than 45 minutes to Big Trees and walking distance to the cute historic town of Columbia. Just an awesome visit!
Great place in Columbia! Easy walk into town. Very peaceful and quiet. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is there. Was perfect to work remote and to go to our office in Sonora. We will be back!
We stayed the weekend before Christmas. Lots of activities and shopping in the town of Columbia and nearby Sonora. Excellent spot in the foothills with many birds to watch right out the door. The bungalow was immaculate (and nicely decorated with original artwork and mosaics) and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. We were warm and cozy in our little cottage!
This place was so cozy, cute and peaceful! So quiet. We saw some wild turkeys, that’s was nice. There are so many things to do and within a short drive. I would definitely recommend. My husband and I will be back!!!
Our two days in this comfortable cottage was absolutely delightful. The cottage has been well designed and thoughtfully equipped by congenial hosts. We appreciated the easy access for mobility-challenged seniors, and we enjoyed daily visits from the deer, birds, and turkeys (and a hopeful turkey vulture one day as well). There is lots of good info in a thick notebook Kim has prepared. History-rich Columbia is a fascinating place to visit, and if you're there at the right time, you can enjoy a Sierra Rep performance at the old Fallon House Theater as well. Enjoy your stay; we sure did!
Located perfectly for the areas we were looking to explore, old gold rush towns and nature trails. Nice to be away from everyone with the location of the bungalow. Nice to have such great parking right in front. The backyard was fenced in and very nicely filled with flowers, decor. Wildlife strolling by every day was fun to watch. The bungalow is equipped nicely with everything needed for a comfortable stay, including fresh eggs left there for us, thank you. Our old dog, "Daisy" loved it there as well. Loved our stay and hope to stay again.
The place was exactly as advertised with everything you could need including a full kitchen with dishes, full size appliances, cooking utensils, etc. Communication with the hosts was excellent and the check in and check out was as simple as possible. It was so tranquil and quiet but still walking distance to Columbia. We'll definitely be back!
The hosts are thoughtful all the way to the least detail - from their information rich “stay” folder complete with solid suggestions on activities to the birthday card for my wife and fresh eggs. It was a memorable experience - one of the best.
A lovely retreat! Wonderfully appointed one bedroom cottage. Everything you need. Multiple sources of caffeine which is always appreciated. Cream, sugar and fresh eggs! Wish we had stayed there a few more nights! We will be back to explore Colombia and recharge in this lovely space!
100+ heat when arrived but out little bungalow was cool! Beautiful amenities! Only wish is for light blocking curtains on slider for lazy afternoon movie watching😝. Oh and we cannot forget our wonderfully delightful gift of produce!!😊
This was a return trip for us and it was as wonderful as the last time. They put in new furniture in the living area. While we were sitting on the patio, we saw a couple deer walking by and we also saw a turkey of all things. There were also some humming birds in the garden and we really liked watching them. This place has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, just need to bring some groceries. If you forget anything there is a SaveMart nearby in Sonora. The owners are really great and very responsive with communication. We'll definitely be back!
The wife and I were pleasantly surprised, the online pics could not express the charm and beauty or the vibe- you had to be there for yourself the back patio is awesome we took in the mosaic’s, the floral and fauna really sets the mood! We definitely felt the love and joy and took in the fruits of another’s labor for sure, inside was much the same adorned with amazing art and all the comforts of home and then some including farm fresh eggs left for us by the owner a nice touch to say the least! Columbia state park is just down the street and we enjoyed hanging out there, great place indeed. Thanks again for allowing us to hang out for a couple days we’ll be back soon…..
Lovely, Peaceful Sanctuary - can’t wait to return!
Bixel Bungalow was a wonderful place to stay. It was spotless, well-equipped with anything one might need and extremely comfortable. The thoughtfulness that has been put into the space can’t be overstated. It’s a place that makes you want to relax, and makes you feel at ease - despite being equipped with quality furnishings and beautiful local art. We brought our dog and she too enjoyed the space and lovely yard. Kim has thought of everything - including fresh eggs left for us to enjoy, onsite items for a pet (ex: a shelf of towels specifically for a dog), a thorough and extensive guest book that includes information about local sites, restaurants, activities and history. We were there for only an overnight but it’s a place so calming and relaxing we plan to return just for the purpose of staying there to read, write and relax. Kim made the process of booking, exiting and answering any questions simple and convenient. She was prompt, clear in her communications and thoughtful. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying this space and we look forward to returning soon! Thank you Kim!
This is our 4th time staying here. We love the fact we are allowed to bring our dogs and the back yard is fenced in. It's quiet and we sure look forward to coming back.
