A true oasis of calm in a wooded and shaded setting by the river, heated pool.

"What a lovely property and a lovely host! The property is tucked away just outside of Rochechouart, an old millhouse on a small stream. The property is as described with enough beds for a group of 9 people. The property has two living areas meaning there is enough space for everyone. Amenities wise the pool is excellent, heated enough to take away the chill, but still cool enough for those hot days. The table-tennis, boules and organ round out the non-electronic entertainment. The Plancha style BBQ is amazing, under cover right next to the stream with a large table. We ate evening meals there every night. Beds were comfy, kitchen's well equipped it was a great stay for our group and allowed everyone to chill out and relax!Claire is a great host. She lives on site, but other than saying hi and helping practice French language skills or attending to little needs here and there she doesn't encroach or interfere with your enjoyment. From the property it is a 5 min drive into the centre of Rochechouart where there are a couple of patisseries, a wonderful butcher and an Aldi and and an Intermarche. There is a trail up the hill from the property as well into town that you can walk in 10 mins.Would highly recommend!"

"We had a fabulous stay! Kids had a marvellous time! House was spacious, games room was amazing- keeping kids busy and outside was really fun! We all enjoyed the pool, the little ones loved the little bikes and play house too, table tennis was great! There was just so much to do, we only went out for a short time each day just to see the area a bit - (there is a hands on goat-milking in Nantieul which kids enjoyed, and a lovely craft market in Vertieul) but we mostly made the most of the house and garden. Thomas was so kind and accomodating -helping us out with everything we needed. Thank you so much!"

"We are a family of 8 - 4 "kids" 2 parters and mum and dad. What a great venue for a get together. We ate out on the terrace every day inc breakfast. The cooking facilities were great. The wednesday night was our wedding anniversary so we hired a couple of chefs for the evening. La Broulie is very quiet and I'm sure we heard a wolf howl one night. the stars were very bright in the absence of light pollution. what a great family holiday. This place would easily fit 3 large families putting the kids all in the big attic room."

"We had a lovely stay. The gite is clean and well equipped, the beds are comfortable, the bedrooms that are located downstairs nicely cool during hot summer days and there are insect nets mounted at all windows. Apartment and garden are very well suited for (young) children (ours were 4 and 2); there is plenty of space and there are plenty of things for them to play with outside. Pool is decent sized, clean and has a pleasant temperature. Location is very quiet, but there are sufficient things of interest in the surroundings. Would definitely recommend! Last but not least: thanks Monique and Lex for being such warm and caring hosts! We have felt very welcome and this has definitely contributed to our stay."
