Charming Home near skiing, hiking, biking, ATVing , Lakes and Forest BEAUTIFUL!

Our home is in the heart of the beautiful Sierra Valley in the tiny town of Calpine. Close to the Sierra Hot Springs and endless Sierra mountain fun. Birding, golfing, boating, cycling, skiing, hiking and so much more. A very cozy and quiet place in the great Sierra Valley.

A stay here will totally rejuvenate your soul. It’s beautiful and private, yet close to everything you could want. Your stay can be totally relaxing and lounging or you can make your stay as exciting and thrilling as you want. You can hike, fish, climb mountains, bike, swim, kayak, golf, boat, dine-out, or get a manicure and massage, all within a few miles of this home. Reno, Tahoe, and Truckee are within an hour drive. Whitehawk Ranch, Graeagle, Lake Davis, Clio, Sierra City, Downieville and the beautiful Lakes Basin are each just a few short scenic miles away.

One bedroom with comfortable queen bed and private bathroom. Full kitchen for food preparation or driving distance to many great places to eat. Our home is heated by oil heat and ceiling fans.

Our house is serene and comfortable. The house sits on a quiet road and sits back from Highway 89. The convenience of being in town with the privacy of back roads. Enough parking for a couple cars, trailer or boat.

There are five 18 hole golf courses all within a half hour's drive as well as numerous outstanding restaurants. The nearby picturesque Lakes Basin Recreation Area has a multitude of pristine lakes, and the Sierra Buttes above with a famous fire lookout offers all levels of hiking, biking, fishing, boating and other summer and winter activities.

NOTE: AT&T has recently discontinued all landline phone service in our area. We currently do not have a house phone at the property available. We are working on trying to figure out a solution.

Very peaceful and quiet. Lovely place it felt bigger than a cabin. We really enjoyed the stay, only draw backs would be no internet and a motoin light that would come on just outside the bedroom window.

Quiet and cozy

A nice quiet off-grid getaway (no cell or internet service, unexpected but refreshing). Hot springs and hike/bike trails were not far. We cooked in the home one evening, dined out the other evening.

Cozy and Comfy

Only issue was with Vrbo telling us the property wasn’t available when it was, hence the 4 stars. But Kim helped us work around that glitch. No TV was a surprise but made for an evening of conversation! Very cute and comfortable place. Would stay again. Thank you.

Lovely Place for Two

We enjoyed our stay. The property is a nice size and ambiance for two people. Calpine is a quiet place and a good location from which to explore other areas in the vicinity. We had a good experience with the property owner, Kim.

Great Location and perfect size for us.

We enjoyed our stay in Calpine. The house was in a great location close to Graeagle, Blairsden, lakes and hiking trails. The house was clean, comfortable, and very peaceful. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Your home away from home stay.

Stayed here for a few nights for a cross cut class. Good place to stay if you're trying to go somewhat off grid and still be somewhere comfortable. I believe laundry and wifi were advertised on the listing, but neither were available on the property. Property manager was helpful and responded quickly throughout the booking process and the stay.

Perfect little get away.

Very nice little get away if you want to disconnect for a few days. Took my dog with me and he loved it. House was the perfect size and had all the amenities you could ask for. Kim & Sean are very nice and have excellent communication. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

Calpine is a quit small town (very small). The rental is well-decorated. Full kitchen. Peaceful. Nice landscaping. Only things missing for this Townie are A/C (not needed at that altitude) and internet.

A quiet disconnected place

If you want/need quiet and want to disconnect...This is your place. No I-net and No T.V.... Bring your favorite DVD's and Books you've always wanted to read...Your cell service will be spotty if at all. Take in the night sky and watch those twinkling stars. What a brilliant show. Hike the trails and take in the beauty... Leave facebook and google behind as paradise awaits.

Walking distance from our crosscut saw sharpening workshop

Our host, Kim, was very responsive to our questions when selecting where to stay. The home was spotless and obviously well cared for. Having no wifi/internet was inconvenient but the generous library of DVD titles made up for it. Thank you, Kim and Sean!

Great Space and Community

Booked the place to attend a wedding in Portola - had some time Saturday morning to explore the area and participate in a community car show and fund raiser for the high school. Really nice people. The home itself is really nice and comfortable. The mattress is firm. There is minimal wi-fi - so it's ideal if you want to unplug for a hot moment. Would absolutely go back.

Great Homebase for the Mountains

Very comfortable homey home. Generously stocked, fun neighborhood, and lovely lawn area out front. Coming from the water-restricted Bay Area, our dog couldn't get enough of rolling in the cool, wet grass! I have suggested to the owner to change the "coffee maker" listed to read instead "Keurig Machine."

Great place to stay

The house was easy to find, clean and comfortable. The entire process went smoothly with no problems. Just be aware that there is no wi-fi and that cell service is poor. I had to walk up the road to find one bar. This did not affect my stay, but it might be a problem for others.

The home was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The walkway was very uneven and was challenging for my husband who had to use a walking stick to steady himself. Not handicap accessible. Despite listing TV there was no TV channels only able to watch DVD movies which were available

No AC during a heat wave so we cancelled

We didn't end up staying at this property because there was a heat wave with temps in the mountains over 100 degrees. The listing doesn't have AC, and we didn't want to deal with being hot and miserable during our vacation. We cancelled the day before, which meant that we lost everything (the host even kept the dog deposit and cleaning fee!) But that's still better than cooking during a vacation. I tried not to rate this property at all, since we didn't stay there, but VRBO seems to require a rating!
