Great, modern base for hiking
We chose this beautiful modern house for a few days of relaxation and exploration after an intense work trip and it was good. The house is modern and clean and comfortable. The furniture new and nice and all appliances the same. There are huge doors you can slide open to bring the outside in and comfortable outdoor furniture. The town is about as rural as you can find on this surprisingly populated island and we enjoyed exploring the coffee shops and local hikes. Easy to get here from anywhere on the island with a car. There are a few things could be improved to make it feel more like a home and less like leftovers from someone else’s house. There were only 2 bowls and no cutting board. Otherwise, the kitchen was well equipped. It would be great to have some basics like olive oil, basic spices and laundry detergent but maybe past visitors have abused things like this. The beds are rock hard - 1 the hardest I’ve ever felt, the smallest reasonable so we slept in there after the first uncomfortable night. There not being any heating except for additional pay was surprising, especially since it was cranking when we arrived. Then we never turned it n again after reading the instruction book. The arrival instruction were sent as PDFs that opened as lots of code and nothing readable. We waited a while after arriving to receive a code for the lock box after trying to call text and email through the app. Everything was fine after that but I feel like we missed some info.

Absolutely fantastic stay! I come to Madeira yearly and when I’m with family I ALWAYS stay at either Leahouse or Laurishouse and you cant beat the location and the fantastic community! With the highway right there you can go everywhere. When we have any issues they respond quickly and never a problem! The houses have EVERYTHING! Top quality! Strongly recommend, you wont be disappointed!!

Prazeres
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well maintained house. It was our first trip to Madeira, which is a beautiful island. Catia was very easy to communicate with and always responsive to queries.

Great place to relax and go for long walks
We enjoyed a week at this house in Prazeres. House is fully-equipped with everything you could ask for; with the added benefit of being in a quiet neighborhood with a high percentage of residents who have moved here from other countries, leading to many interesting conversations. Beds and furniture were comfortable, WiFi was always available and reasonably fast. Located close to the Farmer's Market that is open on Sunday mornings. There are several small restaurants and mini-marts nearby to keep you well-supplied. Bus stop is located 5-10 minute walk from house. Excellent buffet restaurant inside Hotel Jardim Atlantico, about a 20-minute walk....a bit longer if you go to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

A Host To Be Trusted
We cannot praise Catia enough. We became "stranded" at their property due to Covid 19, but were allowed to stay over when our flight was cancelled. Throughout the emergency we were kept abreast of developments with regular emails. The house itself is well situated, in excellent condition and spotlessly clean and fresh. The nearby main road is in a cutting and had little traffic during our stay. The downside is that you are some distance from Funchal and that side of the island, however if you want to walk the lavadas it is a great base. Recommended for couples with or without active older children. There is a good sized patio on 3 sides with plenty of room to sit outside and the electric gates ensure security for little ones. Beds are firm but comfy with lots of bedding, 3 showers 2 of which were used and worked well. A kettle for the British!! Super WiFi which only showed signs of slowing a couple of times. Very good wood burner at sensible cost if you go out of season.

Lovely comfortable stay at Lea House
We had a lovely comfortable stay with our friends at Leahouse. It is a comfortable extremely nice family dwelling a quite but beautiful village setting. It has all the amenities you would require for a family holiday and we particularly liked the design of the staircase and very efficient log burner. Which heats the whole house. This fire is essential because without it the house would be unbearably cold at night. The house was. Extremely good value. We had initially a little difficulty finding the house partly due to lack of WiFi but a house number would have been useful. The house was ideal and we would have no problems recommending this property for a family holiday. In fact we were very sorry to have to leave this house. The only two minor criticisms is the WiFi is a bit irregular often drops off or runs very slowly. The beds although comfortable have very sharp corners which we kept catching ourselves on so be weary. Apart from this it is an excellent facility in a lovely part of Maderia in a friendly village no worries recommending this property.

A Huge, Fantastic Property!! Safe and secure, peaceful Lovely Villa!
We spent two weeks in Madeira and this villa had everything we needed! A huge place with big rooms, full cooking facilities, a dishwasher, washing machine... perfect!! The owners were very quick to respond with any queries and the check in process was very easy. It feels very secure with the remotely operated gates to the driveway and the remote controlled garage door. A very peaceful and quiet area and the street is a no through road/dead end, so the only traffic we saw/heard was from people living on the same street, which was not very often! The only thing that was a (very small issue), was that there were no hooks in the main bathroom to hang towels; I think there may have been some at one point but they've fallen off. One of the bathrooms had a towel rail affixed to the cupboard under the sink, but that was downstairs. Some of the glass panes in the utility room and dining area have big cracks in, but the owners are aware of this from previous reviews. Even though the villa is located the opposite end of the island to Funchal, it only took 50 minutes to drive to Funchal and access to the rest of the island was easy and quick, due to the road network of tunnels. You definitely need a rental car to get around ... I would recommend hiring a more powerful automatic transmission vehicle if possible as the VERY steep roads are challenging and you're constantly changing into second gear! Overall, we would recommend this property to anyone. Probably the best vacation villa we have stayed in! A*****

Wonderful house to stay in
Leahouse is a great place to stay. It's a large property, well decorated and equipped with good quality equipment - induction hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine etc. There's brick built barbeque too. The house is really secure too - remote-control sliding gate and a garage, again with a remote controlled door, for the car. Prazeres is a large village at the western end of the island, with several restaurants and a supermarket. I dropped it one star because you do need to drive practically everywhere you want to go. It is however a very peaceful and safe place to stay. It's also right next to the main road that runs the length of the south side of the island, which makes it easy to get around. Out the back of the village, there's a road that takes you straight up to Paul da Serra or over to Porto Moniz. Overall, a great place for a family holiday!
