We stayed at Casa del Caribe for almost a month and a half. It's a beautiful place, bigger and nicer than it looks in the pictures and video. We had been concerned about the lack of screens on the windows, but it turned out to be no issue at all. The wooden shutters are great, the beds have nets, and the rooms are well-ventilated (good fans on ceiling and floor). The house is very well-taken care of - clean, clearly loved. The open floor on the first floor is lovely and allows you to stay outside all the time. Hammocks and chairs for relaxing are all around the house, although the living room furniture is better looking than functional - would have loved a comfortable couch at times.
The location is great - there are houses all around, but lots of privacy too. A short walk to the grocery store and restaurants and the beach, which we loved and visited daily, especially in the mornings when the waves and currents are calmer. There's a lot of wildlife to see nearby - lots of great birds, a huge iguana (by the bridge), and a sloth that will show up in your actual yard - we saw her holding her baby in the trees over the bike rack.
The property manager, Fred, lives next door and is a wonderful guy. We really enjoyed getting to know him and he was super-responsive and helpful. The owner Shelly was kind and friendly, but not particularly responsive to texts and emails. A discount we had negotiated never came through.
This is a great place to stay, highly recommended. The bikes make it easy to visit many nearby towns (bikes are pretty safe, and terrain is flat). And there's plenty to see and do within an easy walk, including live music, fine dining, family restaurants and cafes, roadside fruit stands, full grocery stores, surf lessons, everything.
