Bait and switch
This will be a back and forth between me and the owner. Basically when my husband and dad arrived at this property the owner and his family were there. He told my husband "I canceled the reservation soon after your wife made it." First off-No, he did not. It was still active in the VRBO website. He also had not refunded my money. I had messaged him for the check in information and he had not gotten back to me but we were in route. (4 hours). Was going to figure it out once we got there. My husband called me and told me this and I was 10 minutes away. He said the owner had a solution, he has another house a couple of doors down that we can use. The house was older, NOT as updated or nice, the beds not as big, my husband and agreed to stay because we had driven 4 hours and at this point what were we going to do. We had my 2 sons and grandkids coming as well. This was the fourth of July weekend. No choice.This older home did have a nicer lake view, a dock that the owner said my dad could dock his boat. We had to wait while the owner and his wife cleaned out the fridge of this other home. The owner is going to say that "we accepted this home and he owes no refund." I just want some money back not a full refund. He is going to say that he even took my dad to the marina to show him where he could unload his boat. He did, owner was going there anyway. While we were there some of his grandkids walked into the basement! Pics below of other home-not as nice.
