I had a wonderful stay at Exalco and honestly don’t understand some of the negative reviews I read before coming here. After experiencing the hotel myself, I can say that the reality was completely different.
One thing I noticed in Albania is that many hotels and resorts are family-run. You can really see how much hard work goes into running a place like this every single day. During my stay, there were so many tourists arriving and leaving, yet the staff were constantly working to make...

"The staff at the front desk I believe her name is Sara (red head) is amazing! She is very helpful and attentive and wears a smile all day. The hotel is on the 4th floor but there is an elevator from the parking lot however you do go down into a dark basement to work your way up. The parking attendants were so kind, helpful, friendly and honestly just wonderful. He helped us take our bags up. There is also a different entrance but not sure how to get there we tried to take the stairs down the back way and got completely lost we had to come back up so stick to the elevator. Its a strange set up. The view from the open rooftop is wonderful overlooking the pedestrian walk and the Mosque. When you enter it will feel hot, but that is because the terrace is completely open but the rooms have AC. The room was enough for my son and I. I have to say I stayed at a beautiful Marriott in Tirana but the pillows at Hotel Chicago were the BEST!!!! I like how firm the bed is too. The room was spacious and even had a jacuzzi that we did not use, but amazing that they fit a jacuzzi in there. For a one night stay it worked out just fine. I would stay here again. The breakfast was decent, but I enjoyed the egg whites and sausage more. The COFFEE omg the Cappuccino was SO DAMN Good, I can't stop thinking about it. Overall, great hotel in Shkroder, great location. What a beautiful city if you can stay longer than one night I would!"
"Great location, great rooms. Just be aware that on Fri/Sat nights there’s a club nearby with loud bass music from 9pm-midnight.
Otherwise the rooms are well soundproofed!
Parking is about a 7 min walk away."
"The staff was very kind, friendly, and helpful, and I really liked my room. The AC worked very well and kept the room nice and cool.
However, during the night, the AC made a strange and uncomfortable noise, and I had to play background music in order to sleep.
There are also a few things that could make the room more comfortable. There was no chair in the room or on the balcony. In the bathroom, there were no towel racks or hooks to hang the hand towel or bath towels. The shower curtain also did not fully contain the water, so water would get onto the bathroom floor.
Overall, I enjoyed my room and appreciated the kindness of the staff. With a few small improvements, the room could be much more comfortable."

One thing I noticed in Albania is that many hotels and resorts are family-run. You can really see how much hard work goes into running a place like this every single day. During my stay, there were so many tourists arriving and leaving, yet the staff were constantly working to make sure everyone was taken care of. Of course, no hotel in the world can be absolutely perfect every second when it is busy, but what matters is how they respond—and the team here genuinely cares.
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with a smile. The receptionist was incredibly kind and friendly. We had a lovely conversation, and I was even offered a complimentary drink, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made me feel at home.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and had a lovely balcony where I could relax. If I needed anything, the staff were always willing to help. I even noticed that whenever a guest had an issue or requested something different, the reception team did their best to solve it immediately, whether that meant cleaning again, changing rooms, or providing whatever was needed.
The swimming pool is beautiful, large, and perfect for relaxing after a day of travelling or exploring Shkodër. The location is also very convenient, especially if you’re driving through"
"The view by the pool is just one of the best in the world. Everything else is good price is a lil high for Albania but we booked last minute. Everything is great recommended"
"This family hotel is clean with nice breakfast free parking and great location just 5 minutes walk to the main street. The rooms are simple and clean."
