Buck's Pocket State Park

Great hidden overlook over the canyon. Short walk from parking area. Very close to High Falls Park. I recommend visiting both!

Fall colors about to begin at Buck's Pocket State Park. Legend has it that the park is named for the large herds of deer, or a man nicknamed Buck who lived in a nearby cave...only in Alabama, lol. This 2000 acre park is in a natural pocket of the Appalachian Mountain. Rumor has it that unsuccessful Alabama politicians head here after lost elections to do lord knows what.
