We stayed in Majestic Overlook from 12/21-12/28 and loved the views and the quaintness of the cabin! We are very strict on clean and this cabin was clean, even under the bed! The only area that could use a dusting, and is always hard to miss is the sliding bathroom door. But that’s nit-picking!
We cooked all but two of our meals in the cabin and although it is well equipped with the normal things, I was glad I brought my Ninja Foodi to assist. There was no a crockpot to put a meal on and go out for the day. There also were no plastic or glass containers with lids for leftovers. We could see the couple from the other cabin every time they walked by, if we had the curtains open, so it is not completely private, as stated. This did not bother us.
PROS: Views! Porch, rockers, the bed is extremely comfortable (both of us have bad backs), great pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. Lots of cookware (some under the stove drawer). Although there were some spices, salt, pepper, and oils there, take your zip lock Bags, aluminum foil and any containers you may need.
We had rain the first two days and stayed put but went to Bryson City, Gatlinburg (Smokey Mountain Brewery), Sylva (nice little town), Lazy hiker Brewery where my niece is a bartender and had a great lunch there, and also drove to Dillsboro, into Franklin and a few other places. We were in my Chrysler mini van and had no issues, however, we are experienced driving in these mountains. Had they forecasted snow and colder weather, we would of driven our wrangler.
Overall, a beautiful area, cute little cabin and we appreciated the little Christmas tree and decorations that were put out for our week there!
