About this property
Cottage 1815: Waterloo Battlefields
Gite with particular style (the tower is dreaming children and some large) very comfortable with living room (sofa bed 2 pers), semi equipped kitchen (percolator, fridge with freezer, microwave oven / grill, 4 vitro plates), large table, two bedrooms upstairs (one dedicated to two adults bed 160x200 and a second for young with two beds: 80x200 and 90x200), bathroom (rain shower, toilet and infrared sauna, sink, hair dryer), garage for bike. Wireless. Parking 3 cars. The accommodation is newly furnished, we wanted to make it very cozy. When our visitors enter, we are usually entitled to a "Wow" that rewards us for our efforts. The rental is minimum 2 nights. Note that the sheets and towels are not provided by us, on request this service is possible for a fee (info on request), pillows and duvets are provided in the rental. A cot is possible on request for a supplement of 10 €. The accommodation is provided with a small garden area with a large table-bench and some garden chairs and parasol stored in the garage (+ ironing board). We also draw the attention of our travelers to the fact that the cottage is geared towards families and real tourists. We are not looking for visitors who book to party and drink excessively. Drug use is prohibited. This is unfortunately the result of negative but rare experiences. Access is complete to the dwelling. The garage is only partially available (up to 2-3 bikes max). The driveway serves as parking, you can leave up to 4 cars during your stay.

Thank you for our stay. We had a lovely stay. House was clean and well equipped and the hosts friendly. Close to the battlefield and we enjoyed the museum and long walks in the evening to soak in the history of this beautiful place. Close to Brussels and we enjoyed trips into Brussels to visit museums and to celebrate Belgiums National day!
We stayed two nights at this lovely location and recommend it to all. The hosts were very helpful with all our questions. The location, next to the Waterloo battlefield, was ideal for our group of history enthusiasts. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the stay. The cottage is nice, clean, enough space, a good bed and the infrared sauna was nice too. You can sit outside in a beautifull garden. A nice place to take the bike and discover!
Our trip to Belgium was made complete by the wonderful hospitality we received during our stay at the cottage. We felt completely at home right from the beginning when the owners met us at the door to show us around. The location is fantastic and made it easy to get to numerous locations in Belgium. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else the next time we return! We will remember this trip fondly.
The house is well equipped with everything needed for a stay; including a fully stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs, a toaster, 2 types of coffee makers and a kettle. The sauna was a very nice find in the bathroom and the owners gardens and pond were lovely.
If the Waterloo battlefield museum is on your agenda the property is walking distance to the site.
Great place to stay for a family, quite surroundings and neighbourhood.
The house was very welcoming with all facilities we needed. Clean and cosy, even some toys for the kids which was very well appreciated by the little ones.
Overall great experience and pleasant stay.
The place is really cute, the girls loved the tower. It's great for little kids. The 2 draw backs from our standpoint: This is only the second place in years and multiple countries that charged or did not furnish bed sheets.(The other one was in Belgium too). For a place that is specifically geared to tourist, even though they warn you, the 60 euros extra (in cash) were not appreciated. Also, the 2 bedrooms upstairs, although just listed as "2 bedrooms" are really a loft and the kids bedroom's door opens into the loft as well, so there is no real privacy. That is not really clear in the description. We thought the sauna was a really nice touch, and did use it a couple times. So overall a nice rental, but with a couple points that would be nice to eliminate (include the sheets, everybody else in the world does!), and clarify the bedroom situation to avoid misunderstandings. We didn't have an issue with this, but I can see some people would.
We had a super amazing stay in this cottage which is set in quaint surroundings, and yet is at easy reach to popular places/sites. We used it as our base to do day visits to Brussels, Hallerbos and Leuven. Fabienne and Rudy were such lovely hosts, they live in their house in the same property, they spent time talking to us giving us very useful tips for our sightseeing, and generally filling us in on the history/geography of Belgium, which was very nice of them, they are genuinely caring/welcoming/friendly people which made our stay very homely and we felt much welcomed (even had a welcome note on the board). The cottage had a spacious living, kitchen and bathroom areas, the sauna being the highlight of the bathroom. We enjoyed the music facility in the living area, something we have never seen in our previous holidays. The bar and the attached sitting area was a big bonus, again something we have never come across before. Very nice views of the surrounding area from the upstairs balcony (this is the interesting bit of the castle looking part). The heating worked wonderfully well and very easy to operate, same goes for the hob. The hosts had left a lot of leaflets to find out about sightseeing and also had a very comprehensive book with information about the house (including its history), where things are kept, local eatouts, local sightseeing etc. which was very useful. All in all, we enjoyed our stay so much and will return anytime we can :-) Loved the welcome cookies!!
