Bologna is a city of art, culture and trade. The capital of Emilia-Romagna is also known as “Dotta” (erudite), being the oldest university of the West, as “Grassa” (fat) for its gastronomic delights and “Rossa” (red) for the colors characterizing its old town. Its soul is in the medieval old town, one of the biggest in Europe, dotted in taverns, workshops and theaters, characterized by almost 40 km of porticoes. In the city center there is Piazza Maggiore, where the charm of medieval buildings is perfectly combined with modernity. Not to be missed are the Fountain of Neptune by Giambologna and the Medieval Towers, “Torre degli Asinelli” and “Torre della Garisenda”, part of a rich cultural heritage preserved in several museums, art galleries and religious buildings. It is allowed to leave Bologna only after having tried its gastronomic products, among which mortadella, tortellini, ragù alla bolognese while sipping famous DOC wines from the Bologna hills! Rich in exhibitions, fairs and cultural events, Bologna can surprise you in every season.
20 minutes walking distance from the apartment there is the central train station while the airport is less than a 20-minute drive away.
The apartment was in a very convenient location to the city center. It’s was clean but the thermostat was preset and we couldn’t lower the temperature. We didn’t try to contact them since we had a hard time reaching them in the past. The bed is low and the pillows weren’t comfortable. There was plenty of closet space and there was an ironing board and drying rack if you needed to do laundry but there wasn’t any laundry soap. There were plenty of extra bath towels. The apartment is located on the first floor with a small flight of stairs. Since we were going on a cruise after our stay, we had a lot of luggage so it was nice to have the elevator for the luggage. We overall liked staying there.

Short on essentials and communication
The property was in a great location and clean. However, there was quite a bit lacking in terms of communication and essentials. Other than a scrub brush, there were no kitchen cleaning essentials such as kitchen towels, dishwashing liquid, garbage bags, etc. We had to purchase more paper towels and dishwashing liquid. We found the remainder of the missing kitchen utensils in the dishwasher unwashed and needed to scrub them clean. The blow dryer provided can not be plugged into plugs in the bathroom. You have to use the blow dryer in the kitchen, where there is an old style recessed plug which fits the blow dryer plug. The mattress is incredibly hard and we like hard mattresses, but after the first night we found the mattress on the sleeper sofa more comfortable. Unfortunately, the sleeper sofa is on a slant, so you have to sleep with your feet at the head of the bed. The worst part was the lack of response from the local team responsible for this unit. The air conditioning went out on our second to last night there. It was 90 to 100 each day we were there, and very warm and stuffy in the unit without AC. We had already attempted to reach the woman that checked us in earlier in the week to determine what to do with the trash and to ask about the kitchen cleaning supplies, but she never responded. After several more attempts, we finally called the Wonderfulitaly office with our concerns, who gave us the number of another person to reach locally. We called her twice and sent messages. There is no voice mail set up and she did not respond to any messages. There is no instruction book in the unit, so we were at a loss as to what to do about the air conditioning. All in all, while the unit was conveniently located in the center of town and clean, we were very disappointed by the apparent lack of communication and care for renters and would not stay there again.
