The cleanliness of the property was outstanding. Both the property manager and the owner were exceptionally kind and informative, answering all my questions thoroughly. They went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience. 100% recommended.

Pros: Stunning views. Private. Peaceful. Solid internet. Good communications with owner and property manager. Great pool. Upstairs suite was perfect. The locals were GREAT. Down to earth and helpful.Cons: Should have minimum necessaries for first night such as bars of soap in the bathroom and one roll of paper towels for kitchen. Owner should consider upgrading his fumigation program to mitigate swarming ants and to seal all areas where other unwanted critters enter the house.Observation: It was a 1 hour bumpy ride to the house from the primary route and the house is somewhat remote. This can be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. BUT I would stay there again under the right circumstances because the owner is a man of his word and is very responsive.

Great place to get away, awesome but quiet town.
A few simple restaurants in town, El barco on the beach is awesome. Mike at the butterfly farm was fantastic.

The house has a splendid ocean view in middle of the mountain that give us peace and serenity only broken by nature sounds from the tropical forest.

We enjoyed our stay. You get away from everything.. One evening, we watched a monkey in the trees next to us, Another morning an iguana visited us and another time we watched a coati. We arrived in a car - I would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Also, we had no problem with the internet or bugs. The view of sunsets and the ocean from the infinity pool was fantastic

The home is located on a hill with spectacular views. The front pool area is quite nice and that's where we spent most of our time when at the house. The house has a very nice layout, with large bathrooms and separate sink areas from shower and toilet. The furnishings are quite sparse and appear to be old, so it didn't have a cozy feel. The kitchen needs updating. Overall, it was a nice experience.

We had a great time at this house. There was little things that could have made it better like letting us know there is absolute no reception 10 miles before arriving. Make sure your “Waze” is set ready to go way before arriving. Also there were many spiders and roaches but we were able to kill them all and conquer back the house an hour after arriving. Besides that, the house was amazing with a beautiful view.

Way too isolated and far from everything. Also, the furnishings are very Spartan and limited. Pool and view were great but the beach was a disappointment.

Two words...remote and secluded! If you want crowds and night life go somewhere else. Secluded beaches (as in more than one). A view worth $$$$. The sounds and sights of the jungle are at your door. What an incredibe way to wake up! The local town has the friendliest people you will ever meet! The food was magnificent and the prices better. We spent 15 days in a place that was absolutely amazing!!!

We were thrilled with location! We wanted someplace very quiet with few people--and was just what this provided. Waking up to birds, howler monkey's was divine. The sunsets were beyond gorgeous. Long walks on what seemed like a private beach as there were so few people. Loved the little village of San Francisco and the adventure of getting there on dirt roads---just what we expected. The beach is very shallow---and the water literally warm--perfect escape from 4 feet of snow---this is truly a spot in Costa Rica for people who want privacy and solitude. That said, we had great food at the small restaurants in San Francisco. George was very helpful in directing us with amenities. We were a happy couple and plan to return and stay longer!!

On the plus side this was exactly the quiet, remote location we hoped for. The infinity pool and patio look directly to the river delta that joins the Pacific without interruption of high rise hotels, jet skis or other distractions. We also enjoyed the small town of San Francisco and explored neighboring towns and beaches. People in the communities were without exception welcoming and patient with our meager Spanish. On the downside there was no wifi that we ever accessed except in town. We also had to use bug spray to bomb the house every night after being eaten alive the first night. All this being said, we would happily return to stay there.

The home was in a beautiful location, private, quiet, great views. A bone rattling drive to one of the most beautiful beaches that we have had the privelege to roam.
George provided us with great contacts who were very helpful, as well as very good general information about the area. This home deserves a five star rating but there are some areas that need attention including the kitchen and the downstairs bedroom...fan not working, light bulbs burned out but too high for us to reach .
If there was a 4.5 rating that's what we''d give it but a little TLC and it would be a 5!

Everything was as I expected.Comfortable beds ,good pool, sufficient kitchen gadjets. The refrigerator could have been bigger but we bought ice everyday anyway.Although we never had any problems with th road coming up the hill, you had to pay attention and keep your speed up.It rained on the afternoon 2 days in a row but we were already in the house. If it was really rainy you would need a 4x4.I took my big electric grill and that worked great for cooking for 5 adults and a 3 year old and I would go again.Beaches were good and the store down the road a little way was good. The restaurant Loma Palo was good also.

Our first trip to Costa Rica and it was incredible. Having this beautiful property to return to after a day of exploring was such a pleasure. The views are unparalleled. Sunset from the house is magical. Howler monkeys, iguanas, numerous birds and last but not least a very friendly Coati, who I look forward to seeing when we return next year. We DEFINITELY will be returning! Also, the region is stunning. A great spot for coffee and breakfast just down the road (Allouette), where you will find a young couple who will direct you to great places to eat and explore. Carlos at Tanga Restaurant on the beach is served up the seafood I've ever had. I personally liked the area so much that on our next trip we're going to scout out some potential property ourselves. George was always very responsive, and everyone we dealt with was super friendly and helpful. I can't recommend enough!

We will never forget this wonderful experience! The house was perfect for us - so private, with everything we needed. The pool was fantastic, and the view breathtaking! Spectacular sunsets! We loved the beaches, and got to see the Pretoma Turtle project, and The Jungle Butterfly Farm in Bejuco - so wonderful! Since we were there in the off-season, some places were closed, but we never felt the need to eat dinner anywhere other than Loma Clara! Some of the best meals we've ever had! Rafaell treated us like royalty! This was SO relaxing! The people of Playa Coyote are warm and wonderful, and willing to help. It was sad to have to leave. We want to come back, but must stay longer next time! Wish we'd seen monkeys, but they stayed away, although we heard them in the distance. Another reason to return!

We stayed in this house for a couple of days in December with our two dogs. The house is great, the view unbeatable and the beds were perfect as well. There were four things on the down side: the wifi did not work and there was no one we could reach since there was no cell phone reception, the kitchen did not have any glasses only plastic and we were not welcomed by the person we were told would be there. She sent her little brother instead and he did not explain anything about the house. Also, in the (hot) afternoon there was no shadow at all at the terrace or pool. it would be nice to have a umbrella to sit under or something.
Having said that, we loved to walk to the beach (about 20 min.) and the quiet beach itself. The sunsets were unbelievable and the restaurants were great as well. The kingsize beds were very good and we did not need the airco at all at night, which is unusual for the coast. We will probably be back!

We stayed at George's home for 10 days and it was an ideal location for a true Costa Rican experience. The home is situated on a secluded hillside and overlooks the ocean and estuary just at the bottom, with breath-taking views. We would spend our times at the house on the expansive patio, either in the pool or on the deck chairs, watching the howler monkeys climb from tree to tree and taking in the most amazing sunsets. The house was very comfortable and we were able to cook our meals in the kitchen without any problems. The beach was a short 5 minute drive and most of the beaches we visited were nearly deserted - so much privacy!
The house has a great location. The town of San Francisco de Coyote is very close and was welcoming -- any necessities could be purchased at one of the two markets in town. Rafael at Loma Clara was very friendly and we enjoyed the food on more than one occasion. It was also quite an adventure to drive around in the 4x4 and explore the beaches along the coast and neighboring towns - on several of our journeys we had to cross small rivers and climb over mountains!
We really cannot say enough good things about George's property and encourage anyone considering it to make the trip to see for themselves!

We were looking to get away from it all, the hustle and bustle, the telephones, the TV, the noise, the responsibilities and just RELAX. This was exactly the place we needed and so glad I saw your listing at our last minute of searching. This home delivered everything we were looking for in those regards. So pieceful and quiet you could hear the surf when the wind was right. (Except when the howler monkeys were close in the trees which happened 3 times while we were there, they kept us entertained for hours watching them and trying to get some good pictures with the telephoto lens.) Everything was very clean when we arrived. We hiked on all the roads on the hillside which kept us fit with their degree of pitch but the beautiful vistas we saw when we stopped took our breath away as much as the walk. There were some things closed down for the winter but the Loma Clara was open and their food was fantastic and reasonable. Rafael is a delight to talk to. We walked south on the beach for miles and all week long only saw about a dozen people. August is a good time to go if you want to get away from the crowds, however travel is also limited on some roads due to all the rain. I definitly recommend a jeep, not a car. The roads are an adventure in themselves. The infinity pool was like floating in heaven, watching the birds soar in the airfoils. I would recommend Wilberth (the local tour guide) for arranging any extra activities. Thank you George for sharing this property. If you shared this with another couple, you just can't beat the price.!!!

This is a nice house on a beautiful location with sublime views, but
It could be so much more and better if it was just given some more attention and love.
Everything is there to make it a perfect house. The outside needs some maintenance (paintwork and loose tiles from the pool). The inside is just poorly decorated with very old furniture and a very old kitchen. Everything was old and looked old and dirty. For instance the washing machine is rusty it makes you wonder what the clothes look like when the washing is finished. All that didnt add to the holiday and relaxation feeling.
Another thing is the wifi. We read that the wifi was slow. The owner says that is because it is Costa Rica and wifi here is slower than back home. If that was true than it would be ok. But its not true. Wifi is slow here because the owner didnt invest in a router for his home. Actually this house doesnt have its own wifi, but depends on the wifi of the neighbours and can only be used outside. Everywhere we went in Costa Rica, including other isolated places, wifi was excellent except for here. This is a choice of the owner not a given fact of Costa Rica. Please be honest about that.
In total the house was a bit of a disappointment. We decided to leave one day earlier.

Our family of four enjoyed the spacious layout of this beautiful home. Although Rancho Loma Clara was closed on the Thursday when we arrived, we were able to locate someone who escorted us and gave us keys. We never had any further contact with anyone after that. Having a rugged 4x4 vehicle, we had no difficulty driving up the steep and rough dirt road in July. We were also able to drive up the road to the top of the hill for a truly breathtaking 180’ view. The lovely pool, with lush plantings and jungle-like surroundings, greatly enhanced our visit. We had an interesting variety of wildlife encounters from Howler monkeys in the distance, a tayra and a friendly coatimundi who foraged by the pool, as well as geckos, iguanas, musical wrens and blackbirds nesting nearby, hummingbirds, pelicans and several magpie-jays. We felt safe and comfortable in the house. It was very clean when we arrived, though the ants and spiders made their way in. There were ample bath towels provided, but there were no washcloths or hand towels and there were used towels left behind in the bathroom. We appreciated having a washer and dryer. The A/C in bedrooms was excellent and the ceramic tile floors throughout were cool. The kitchen was adequate, with a coffeemaker, microwave and nice blender, but we really would have appreciated having updated cookware and coordinated serving dishes/ tableware. It was a motley collection of items. Although we came to the area to unplug and unwind, we needed internet access and discovered that there was not actually WiFi access inside the house. It was necessary to go outside on the patio to pick up the signal from the owner’s home next-door. The place overall was great, just needs a little TLC and redecorating.

My husband and I and another couple rented this home for two weeks. Beautiful sunsets, pool, wild life and near by beaches.
The roads to the house were wash board, boulder covered and a full size 4 wheel drive with large tires is a must. The house was hot when we arrived but once the padlocks and chains were taken off the doors and we could open the sliding doors there was a breeze. The screens were broken, so we had giant spiders and frogs in the house. The pool area has no shade and the patio chairs are falling apart. The pool was fabulous. There was a tv, but no satellite and the DVD player did not work. Internet and cell service worked intermittently.
You must bring all your supplies: soap, toilet paper and everything for the kitchen, plus something for the ants, we used cayenne pepper. The washer and dryer worked great. The bathrooms were very nice, but the masterbath toilet was plugged when we arrived so we had to purchase a plunger. The beds had plastic covers on the mattresses and were annoying but necessary, since the air conditioner leaked in the downstair bedroom. The instructions were lacking: did not include DVD operation, how to clearly connect to WiFi, days for pool service, trash pick up and when to expect cleaning people. Electricity temporarily went off 3 of the 9 days we were there.
Casa Caletas hotel and restaurant was the closest restaurant and with road conditions we ate there almost every night. It has an extensive menu and was very good. Loved seeing the iguanas, sheep, raccoons, geckos while we ate! Beautiful sunset and a working TV at the bar. W enjoyed Rios restaurant in Coyote.
That being said, if you are adventure seeker and need to get away, this is the place for you. A very quiet place, fabulous sunsets, and beaches. The monkeys, butterflies, birds, geckos and iguanas are your neighbors!
