"From the outside it looks like any small town hotel. On the inside it’s the usual. The heart of the operation was the kind staff. I learned there was no elevator. Stairs are extremely difficult. The first night we had to take a room on second floor and staff helped by carrying my bags up. They said to check at the next the next morning and when I did, they found a room on first floor. They came to my room when it was ready and carried all of my bags down for me. It was one of the friendliest places I’ve ever stayed."
"Thank you for allowing dogs on the property. That is a plus. However, I was there four nights and had no courtesy cleaning of the room and I think that should happen at least every two nights with the provision of extra bath towels, etc.."
"Loved the open floor plan! Nice updated cabin by the lake. Decorations were very nice. We found the backlighting for the Lake Cornelia sign— you might tell people the switch is under the sink. The side big yard and porch were excellent places to hang out. We even had a fire the night of the blue moon! Well-stocked kitchen that we felt we can use— plastic containers, foil, plastic wrap, napkins, but we left behind our paper products. It was just nice to have all the supplies available. Wonderful location- close to family that lives down the road and we had views of the lake. I don’t know where the public access would be. Questionable how many people it sleeps— probably 2 adults and kids. Glad for the luggage racks, because there were no places to put my clothes. However, the large living space was fantastic! Btw, we cleaned out our food, but left what was already in the fridge & freezer. It was no problem. It worked out fantastic for us!"
"I'm not a fussy traveler and understand that budget motels are basic, but this one was a bit of a stretch. Positives - comfortable bed, strong shower, Wi-fi worked fine, working fridge and microwave in the room as advertised, and quiet for the most part. That part of Iowa feels safe in general so I never felt unsafe as a woman traveling alone. The not great parts - My first impression when checking in was someone demanding a refund because they found old food in their bed. When I got into my room there were no bathroom linens at all and I had to go back to the front desk to ask for them. Several times I returned to find linens missing and not replaced, like a washcloth or all my towels, and I had to go ask for replacements. The back door is supposed to lock with a key card but was duct taped open. Something that looked like dog food was lying all over the back foyer and no one cleaned it up for the 5 days I was there. One day there were bags of trash piled up outside the rear door. My trash wasn't emptied the entire 5 days, I had to ask for a new trash bag and take it out myself, and the desk attendant seemed bothered. There was a breakfast but it was only bread products. Just coffee in the breakfast area, no coffee maker in the room, It appears there is a large family living in the hotel and a couple of mornings it looked like they used the breakfast area as a personal kitchen. I won't be staying here again but if you need something really cheap it will cover basic needs."
