"I'm not sure where my first review went. The picture of the rental is accurate however it does not depict a mattress that pretty much is on the floor. The floor is very wavy making you feel unsteady. The couch was also low and hard as a rock. The smith river behind the house is barely visibleThe worst part is the entry. Nowhere does it mention there are 18 steep steps to entry. The apt building is surrounded by a huge green construction dumpster, a church located in a modular house and active...

Blackwater Castle w/ Private Pool, Arcade, Hot Tub

10/10 Excellent

"We had challenging weather but still had lots of fun. The lake was in a drought, so too low to go boating, and we had cool rainy weather our entire stay, so we hardly used the pool. Fortunately, the house had more than enough to keep us busy. The photos of the arcade in the listing are an understatement. The kids and adults stayed busy playing games, using the hot tub, enjoying the massage chair. and watching tv. We were pleasantly surprised by how little of the arcade noise you could hear in the bedrooms, which are spaced away from the arcade. We had some minor maintenance issues during our stay, and the hosts were incredibly responsive, showing up within an hour to completely resolve the concerns. The home is well-stocked with toiletries and whatever you might have forgotten at home. The kitchen has plenty of coffee and tea available as well as basic spices. My kids have already asked when we can go back!"

"He’s fine very clean love the way the rooms were redone. Grateful for the refrigerator in the microwave. Love the Desk and the ability to set up my computer and have a place to work. The best were very comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious. Really appreciated the quietness. I really enjoy being able to park right in front of my room. That’s a really nice comfort. The gentleman at the Desk was very kind. They kept the parking lot clean and the leaves blown away. They even had chairs outside our door for us to sit on. Very, very nice and very reasonable."

"We had an advanced reservation and when we arrived there was no one there, all the doors were locked and empty parking. There were no other rooms available in the area. Hotels.com had it at the top of their list and highly recommended. Very unhappy!!"

"We stayed here just passing through. The beds were clean, though there were small cigarette burns on some of the sheets. The rooms were secure and the premises quiet on the Friday night we stayed. We rented 2 rooms and one of them appeared to have mildew on the vent in the bathroom. One of the rooms we initially got did not have a properly flushing toilet and was missing a light bulb. When we told the front desk they promptly changed us to a different room that was proper. While there was good water pressure, the tubs were old and stained. The toilet seats were the small round old-fashioned type. The whole place felt pretty run down, old, and in need of serious rennovation. There is an in-ground outdoor pool but it wasn't open yet. Breakfast was only waffles and frozen sausage biscuits, which worked for the kids but the wife and I are gluten free so we had to get something elsewhere. The lady who checked us out was friendly and professional."
