Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Cap

Room and public areas are generally clean. The decor is somewhat unusual with a large tree trunk on each floor near the elevator. It does not have parking, but it has agreement with the hotel next door (Le Mount Stephen) that one can park there overnight for a cost of 40 CAD/night. It has free breakfast though minimal (pastry, bread, cereal, yogurt, coffee) in a small room right across the check-in desk. The room on the top floor (3rd) has a large rectangle opening ceiling that lets natural light to come through. The hotel hangs a white thin cloth over the opening to minimize direct sunlight from entering. This is good in the day time because the room is very bright, but the downside is that as soon as the sun comes up, one can no longer sleep due to the room brightness. And even though the room has AC, it heats up quickly, particularly when the temperature gets above 85F.

This place was amazing! Good sized rooms, modern and clean decor, comfy beds, great views if you can get a room on the upper floors, nice pool and fitness centre and perfectly located in a nice part of downtown off of st Catherine’s street. Everything was really perfect and the host front desk went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and well set up.

The restaurant was great, hotel conveniently located. However, the hotel operates primarily as a convention centre, meaning it caters to large groups. If you don’t mind waiting in line behind 1000 people to access elevators, check in, and amenities, then I highly recommend this site. However, if you’re like me and like a quick and peaceful check-in process, I would look elsewhere. Pros - The staff is very friendly, the food is great, and the outdoor duck pond was an awesome place to hangout away from the crowds. The room is clean and well designed. The hotel is centrally located downtown, busy but convenient. Cons - The check in desk is on the 10th floor, meaning you have to carry your bags up a small flight of stairs before waiting for one of the two available elevators to take you up. You wait in line there, and again at the desk. Then you have to find your room, in the labyrinth that is the hallways. I actually didn’t mind this because it helped with noise. The lobby was extremely crowded due to the convention. Our bathroom door was broken and could not close, as was the fridge door. Our toilet handle was broken and would spin the whole way around. The coffee machines in the lobby were out of order. Our curtain chain had dislodged from the wall. The outdoor walkway is beautiful, but hardly accessible as we tried multiple doors before finding one unlocked (fire hazard?). Bottom line, I’ve seen better and worse.
