I absolutely loved my stay at Room Mate Carla in Barcelona. My first room had a balcony overlooking Carrer de Mallorca, the main street just a short, scenic 7-minute walk from Passeig de Gràcia. The room itself was spotless, incredibly comfortable, and—best of all—surprisingly quiet. It almost felt like we were the only guests in the hotel, which was such a welcome contrast to the busy, tourist-packed parts of the city.
The peace and privacy, combined with the charm of the neighborhood, made me fall in love with this place. I enjoyed it so much that I booked another night after returning from Greece. However, the second stay was a bit of a letdown—this time I didn’t opt for the balcony room. The view was disappointing, the A/C was louder, and the overall vibe just wasn’t the same. Lesson learned: the balcony room is 100% worth it.
One thing to note: check-in time is strict. We arrived early at 8 a.m. and even offered to pay extra to access the room for a nap, but they wouldn’t accommodate us before 3 p.m. Despite that, I’d still return in a heartbeat—just with the balcony room next time!
