Getting Around:
Winter Weather & Mountain Travel Notice
During the winter months, weather conditions in Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, and Sugar Mountain can be unpredictable. Snow, ice, high winds, and rapidly changing road conditions are common and should be expected when traveling to and from the property.
For your safety and ease of travel, we strongly recommend arriving in a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle during winter months. Snow chains may also be necessary depending on conditions. Guests are responsible for monitoring weather forecasts, road conditions, and state travel advisories prior to departure and during travel.
We strongly recommend planning your arrival for around 4:00 PM while daylight is still available. Mountain roads can become significantly more difficult to navigate after dark, especially during or after winter weather events.
While we make reasonable efforts to clear driveways and walkways, snow removal is not guaranteed, especially during active snowfall or severe weather conditions. Natural snowfall may accumulate faster than it can be safely cleared. Snow shovels are provided for guest use so you can clear additional accumulation to your preference.
Mountain travel may be slower than expected, and road closures or delays can occur without notice. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip investment in case of weather-related travel interruptions.
Please note that winter weather, road conditions, flight cancellations, or travel delays are not valid reasons for refunds, date changes, or cancellations outside of the listing’s stated cancellation policy. By booking this property, you acknowledge the inherent risks of winter mountain travel and accept responsibility for arriving safely and prepared.

Everything was done via technology and even for this old man it worked perfectly.
We liked so much we extended our stay another day.
Communications both with the owners and cool B&B young lady by the name of Kelly was excellent.
Additional amenities close by our grocery stores, fast food places, restaurants, attractions grandfather Mountain. Everything is close by really good place to stay.
We were concerned about the rain and cold that was predicted for the one night we were staying here..but honestly, once we got to the cabin, we forgot that it was nasty outside!
The cabin is so cozy - we lounged around and watched TV, had the fireplace going and just had some family time! With 4 adults and 2 dogs, we did not feel like we were overcrowded or anything.
A lot of thought was put into the details in this home and we loved every minute of being there!
Loved the house and area. We really enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and our kids loved the loft spaces. During our stay the area received heavy snow. The roads were quickly cleared but the driveway (both top and bottom access points) were not treated or plowed. You do require 4-wheel drive access to the driveway in certain weather conditions. Our full sized rear wheel drive SUV did struggle. This is your only parking for the house. Also, the walkways to enter the home are wood and after a few days of snowy weather they became icy and treacherous. Overall we will be back but with the knowledge of the driveway/walkway potential conditions.
We really enjoyed our stay! The home is kept really well, decorated very nice, and has beautiful surroundings. We frequent the Banner Elk area and would gladly stay here again.
We had a wonderful time and all of the adults commented on how nice the house was. It is a place that would be fun to visit in warmer weather some time as well.
Host was very welcoming, however the description of the driveway and entrance ramps leading to the upper level of house are not set up for elderly or handicap people. No rails and steep driveway was very icy
