My friends and I booked Sue's house for a big reunion trip. We could not have made a better pick for our place to stay. To start, the place is beautiful - nice and private in the woods, with a lovely well tended garden around it. There's plenty of beds, a well stocked kitchen, two living rooms, one with a record player and tons of records. The backyard has a grill and screened in two season room, and a hammock off to the side. The house used to be Sue and Bayard's, and you can feel the love they've put into the place.
But let's talk about how amazing they are as hosts. They left us a bunch of farm fresh eggs in the fridge for us when we arrived, which was a nice surprise. And about halfway through the stay, they messaged us asking if we wanted their friend, a longtime lobster fisherman, to come cook us a real Maine lobster boil. If they offer this to you, take them up on it. We paid for the lobster and clams at extremely cheap prices, while Sue and Bayard brought us a bunch of homegrown vegetables, some bottles of wine, and two homemade apple pies made from their orchard. Where else in the world will find vrbo hosts that do that? They were a delight to chat with while they were serving and making us dinner. Seriously, don't pass this up if they decide to keep offering this to their guests.
Other nice things - the place is very close to the coast, Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor, and Bangor. You seriously cannot go wrong with renting this place. We will definitely be back.
