Welcome to 'The Log Cab-Inn' - Where Great Memories Are Made

We are a destination spot for snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, four-wheeling, hiking, biking, and year-round vacations. This evergreen retreat is a new (2007) handcrafted log cabin, with three floors and three wrap around outside decks. There's a large mud room with in floor heat to dry out all your outdoor gear. The Cabin is located on 15 acres, with plenty of parking room. It backs up to an all purpose trail (North Freda, Trail #121-ATV/snowmobile trail.)

Were only 5 miles outside of Houghton MI, off of a blacktop road, but this is where the blacktop ends. There are only woods & rivers for eight miles until you reach Lake Superior. This setting will let you enjoy the outdoors right out of your door.

Call or e-mail for more details or visit our website. From there you can check out what our area has to offer. The National Weather Channel rates the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as No. 6 in its top-10 list of Winter Family Get-ways.

Cozy and private
We stayed in mid May, 2024, guests were myself, my wife, and our dog. This cabin was fantastic for our trip to the Keweenaw peninsula. It feels very private, you have tons of space, the property is gorgeous, and it's an easy drive into town for meals in the evening or supplies. The sauna was a particular treat! We really enjoyed staying here and would absolutely stay again if we're ever back in the area!

3rd Stay. Won’t be our last
We regularly visit Houghton area because our daughter was attending Michigan Tech. We love the privacy of the property, yet it is close to everything. Sauna is a huge plus. We love the fact that we can bring our four legged family member. Hosts are excellent and respond quickly to any questions.

Awesome place
This place is awesome for our snowmobile trips. Right off trail 121 that leads to trail 3. Park in back and can walk right into the walk out basement. Heated floors, fireplace, awesome scenery, so beautiful. We have a great time every year. Can’t wait to go back.

Great cabin for our family!
Came up as a family of 5 to visit our student at Michigan Tech for Easter weekend. All 6 of us slept comfortably in the house. Plenty of room, enough bathrooms for us all to get ready. Kitchen had all tools we needed to cook for the weekend. Our kids asked us to rebook this house when we come back up for a longer trip up north. Favorite VRBO house in the area so far. Thank you!

Cozy cabin in the center of all things Western UP
From the Porkies to the tip of the Keewenaw, the location was perfect. Loved the cozy log cabin feel and the “woodsy” decor! Plenty of room for sleeping and very private setting. The second shower in the sauna downstairs was awesome. All the necessities we appreciated like comfy furniture and extra throws to snuggle up with after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. Basically, if you appreciate the outdoors, you’ll love this place. We sure did.

Cozy Getaway
My husband, 2 dogs, and his Mom stayed 5 nights here. We loved the privacy and secluded feel to the property. Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked except for baggies, plastic wrap etc. We wouldn't change a thing. Very thoughtfully decorated and designed. Highly recommend!

Country cabin yet close to town
We came to visit our son who graduated from Michigan Tech and now lives in Hancock. We traveled with our daughter who has special needs and our little mutt. Our daughter used the DVD player and we could hike directly from the cabin with our pup which was great. Only about 15 minutes to visit our son's apartment as well as all the shopping in Houghton. I would not recommend this cabin to anyone with physical limitations that doesn't allow them to go up stairs . Otherwise it was perfect for our family.
