Arosa

Travel Guide
Arosa
Enjoy easy access to the largest interconnected skiing and mountain trail region of Graubünden from this alpine health resort in the pristine Schanfigg Valley.

Arosa is a resort village at about 5,906 feet (1,800 meters) above sea level. Come here to enjoy skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing, Bavarian curling and night sledding in winter. During the warmer months, hike or ride the trails or laze on an alpine beach.

Located at the lower end of the wide Schanfigg Valley, Arosa boasts clean mountain air and good sun exposure, with abundant snowfall in winter. It has been an alpine health resort since 1877.

In summer, head to the Untersee with its garden restaurant. Sunbathe on the sandy shore or green lawn of the lake and use the slide or diving boards to splash into its cool waters. To warm up again, bathe in the solar-heated paddling pool or play a game of volleyball or table tennis.

Take the Urden Cable Car up to access 87 miles (140 kilometers) of walking trails through pristine alpine scenery. You can get from Arosa Hörnli to Lenzerheide Urdenfürggli in less than 5 minutes, effectively creating one huge hiking and skiing area known as “Arosa Lenzerheide.”

At the end of summer, head to the racetracks between Langwies and Arosa for the Arosa ClassicCarfestival.

In winter, ski or snowboard on the 140 miles (225 kilometers) of slopes of the interconnected resorts. Visit the Arosa Comedy Festival in December for fun nights out or cheer on the unofficial snow football world championship in January.

Located 8,704 feet (2,653 meters) above sea level, Weisshorn’s summit restaurant has 360-degree views of no less than 400 peaks. At night, you can see the lights of Chur, the capital of Grisons, twinkle below you.

Stay overnight in an apartment, hotel room or camping spot of the Arosa resort and you will receive the Arosa All-inclusive Card, giving you free access to the Rope Park, the Untersee beach and aerial tramways to Hörnli and Weisshorn, among other benefits.

Arosa is easily reached by train from Chur. Your ski pass for Arosa Lenzerheide is also your train or bus ticket between Arosa, Chur and Lenzerheide. If you come by car, you’ll be driving across more than 365 serpentines and through long tunnels, making the journey to this very scenic resort an attraction in itself.
