After booking the room, I was told by relatives that they had arranged for me to stay with family. Since my daughter's wedding was more than a month away, I called to cancel my room. The owner of the property told me that this room had a "no refund" policy and that I had agreed to the terms. I admitted that I never did read the fine print, but told him that I was a senior on a budget and asked if he could please make an exception, especially given the 30 day plus notice. He then told me that it was not up to him and that Vrbo was the big money hungry company that didn't care. When I called Vrbo, they told me that any refund would be up to the owner. I didn't appreciate the lie and so though I had spent hundreds of dollars, I refused to even step foot on the property. I never did show up for the room and the owner kept my money. Though he had the legal right to do this, he could have at least been upfront and honest. He could have also helped out a senior in need. But, not.
