Beautiful hotel with nice amenities such as the breakfast and free mini bar. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Location is very convenient for the train station but also an easy walk to attractions. I highly recomment.

Hotel Spalentor offers a wonderful, well run place to stay in a perfect location for access to the old town or to get to the train station. Old school kind of place wheree they give you a physical key for your room but everything is clean as a whistle.

The hotel was very nice, located in central Basel. The only downside was that it, apparently like other recently renovated hotels, did not have air conditioning (and it was unseasonably hot in Basel.

This is a bed and breakfast a short distance by tram 14 from the heart of Basel. The owners were very welcoming and outgoing. The room I had, the Green Room, was clean and comfortable. The owners had accommodated me in a very bad situation ( passport without three month until expiration for travel forcing me to do all sorts of things to correct this) and I appreciated it. Wonderful place! Great location- 10 minute walk from train station and 5 from Altstadt and shops, cafes and bars. Has a great garden bar area and dining room. It's Europe, has no a/c like many Europeanhotels- so in the Summer, bring fans and ask for one for your room.

We scheduled an extra day to spend some time in the area. We were able to use the free local bus system that stopped right across the street from the hotel.

Very close to the metro that was very convenient for traveling all over Basel

The most efficient use of space ever in a hotel room. U.S. hotels should learn from these guys. Best bathtub...narrow and deep, perfect for soaking after a hard day of travel. Your woman is clean. The window opened towards the mountains. The spa was incredible. The food was wonderful. The staff was excellent if I ever go to bed again I’m going to be sure to stay there. I loved it.

We stayed at the Steinenschanze Stadthotel the day before we took a Rhine river cruise. The receptionist gave us good instructions on how to use the free transit pass to get back to the hotel after we returned our rental car at the airport, which saved us a taxi fare. The receptionist also recommended a good Swiss restaurant within a 10 minutes walk for dinner, and gave us good directions on using the free transit pass to visit the Basel zoo. Aarau is an adorable old walled city with a river running through it and the hotel is charming, but also completely renovated inside. Staff was super nice. Bottled water and breakfast was included.
