"Old school, old fashioned (read: dated decor, manual check-outs, actual keys for your room), traditional spa resort. The mixed onsen is great, lots of space and different temperatures so you can easily find your perfect spot. Definitely go half board as the evening buffet is excellent. Highly recommended."

"We had a wonderful 6 night stay. The staff are amazing and the food is incredible. The room was perfect size for a week or longer stay. Great couch and tv, with usb compatibility. If the bed and pillow were a little softer I would say it’s perfect. It was hard to leave."

"Good place to stay. Window noise insulation is very good, but you cannot open the window since it is near main road with loud noise from trucks. Clean and tidy, helpful staff Some good restaurant at driving distance."

"The hotel is lovely! A bit dated but very well maintained. The included buffet dinner and breakfast were amazing with many choices of Japanese and Western food! Lovely rooftop onsen plus ground floor onsen. The area around the hotel is a quiet with many ships and restaurants closed but that allowed us to enjoy the hotel facilities."

"Only few Onsen pools available. Dinner amd Breakfast Buffet menu don’t change much daily. Hallway is lack of fresh air."

"The staff at the counter don't seems to be able communicate effectively. We checked in quite late and we were told about dinner need reservation before specific time resulting we headed out nearby ramen shop but were not accepting anymore customer. We went back to our room and order for room service but was declined because the staff couldn't speak english. We snacked on our biscuit at the end as our dinner."

"I enjoyed the abundant dinner and breakfast. many traditional foods. staff was friendly and nice even with my lack of japanese language. baths were run down. property was very old - needed refurbishment in the 1980s. compared to price of other nearby properties, the tradeoff (discount) was acceptable. "This hotel is a little off the beaten path but if you have a rental car it is just a short drive from unkai terrace. Another great advantage is being close to the bear reserve at the top of the mountain which I highly recommend if you have the time. Comfortable rooms with AC, ping pong tables near the laundry so you can play while you wait. Very happy with this hotel."

"Easily access by bus from Obihiro station. We can enjoy light food at Garden Spa Tokachi next to this hotel, and Seico Mart is across the road.Normaly,Japanese Onsen Ryokan provides(includes) both of breakfast & dinner,but in this hotel, you can choose them include or exclude."

"高級感がありおもてなしは素晴らしいです。部屋と露天風呂は申し分なく、清潔感もありお洒落で良かったです。 スリッパ無しで歩く館内は畳が気持ちよく、とにかく内装が素敵で非日常を味わえます。 大浴場も空いていて貸切状態。高級感がありゆっくりと楽しめました。人とすれ違う事も無くプライベートが空間は保たれています。 ただお食事が期待していただけに残念でした。 特に夕食は普通です。お洒落感は無かったです あと高級ホテルなのに、木のテーブルにビニールのマットをかけているのがとても気になりました。 "

" Lovely stay at Deer Valley, staff were great, very friendly. Really liked that meals were served at your table - we had stayed at a few other places recently that were all buffet style. The food was very very nice, and the italian dinner focus was a nice change from several weeks of japanese food. Breakfast was a large american plate, which also included a tasty curry soup (love that about hokkaido). Onsen has a nice view of Asahidake, and it was good to have the option to also take an onsen...

"We just spent five weeks in Japan and are still talking about the food we ate here. It is nothing short of spectacular. We paid quadruple at other ryokans and this one had the best food, best location and the best onsens. It’s an older place with older, big onsens and for us that was the charm of it. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind. We went skiing one day and snowshoeing the next and ended up seeing a red fox each day. Really can’t recommend this...

"Very helpful staff, room basic but as expected for price. Onsen above average with nice outdoor pool. The most impressive thing was that with only a couple of hours notice they produced a vegetarian version of the evening meal for one of us - food was fabulous. Very pleased we stayed."
