Good accommodation, culturally unique property, highly convenient location for a tourist. price was a bit high.
What an astonishing place! Really friendly staff and the owners are lovely. Well run and clearly a lot of thought has gone into the communal spaces to make them as inviting and relaxing as possible. The bedroom was great and had everything we needed and the location is fantastic - a little back from the main streets so nice and quiet but close to everything you want to see.
We (me, my husband and three boys from the age 3 to 9) left our all-inclusive resort on the east coast (Uroa) to stay 2 nights in vivid Stone Town. The Habari House was our choice because of its centrsl location with only a short walking distance to everything. We really enjoyed this part of the journey and recommend the Habari House to everyone, who wants to experience Stone Town for more than just a day-trip! And if you visit Zanzibar, I believe you should! The hosts (a couple with a small child) are the sweetest souls: warm, kind and generous. My husband had some stomach pain, when we arrived, and the host went out to find him Jægermeister late at night. 5 stars for effort and for making us feel more than welcome.
We hope to return one day and maybe have time to sit down and have dinner with these sweet, beautiful people.
The room was nice, breakfast was so so (but 5 stars for effort and goodwill), location was perfect and our overall experience was superb.

We can't say enough good things about our stay at Habari House. My husband and I travel quite a bit and never have we stayed somewhere with such gracious hosts as G and Lucy. They welcomed us in and made sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. In fact, when I mentioned that my mattress was a bit firm, they went out and got a new mattress and a foam topper to ensure I would have a good night's sleep. I didn't want them to go to the trouble, but they graciously insisted.
The breakfast each morning was scrumptious. The freshly made juice was such a treat. One morning we had an early departure time for a tour, and they thoughtfully prepared a boxed breakfast to take with us. We were so grateful for that!
G and Lucy and the entire staff is enough reason for me to recommend staying here but Habari House itself is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms (our kids were in a separate room) were clean and comfortable. The restaurant/courtyard area has such a cool vibe. It was a place that was easy to just stay and linger in conversation.
Habari House is also in a fantastic location. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to the heart of Stone Town in just a few minutes' walk. Each night, upon returning to Habari House after a day of excursions, it honestly felt like coming home.
G and Lucy are such beautiful people and have created more than just a hotel, but a place of community and rest.

Traditional stone town house hotel with a really warm welcome from the lovely family who own it. Great location with an easy safe short walk to the main hotspots and the night food market and sea jumping zone.
located at the heart of Shangani, a walking distance from the sea front, Forodhani and Darajani.
Small quaint property with a home feel, my kind of thing!
