This hotel costs about twice its value in the off-season, but they charge full coin year round. I stayed here because there were very few rooms in the vicinity of Collingwood, and I was visiting family. A comparable room in Collingwood would have cost half the price. This hotel is on the river, but the river is frozen in winter, so that is not much of an asset. The paddleboats and canoes are also frozen. The owners, in fairness, should drop rates in the off-season, but this seemed to be a situation of opportunity-pricing that captured the excess demand from an adjacent town.
As to the room, the master bedroom would be ok for mom and dad, but did not have a view. The living room had the other bed, which would have zero privacy. I do not understand why they built it that way, as that would only work for children up to teen years.
The hotel is new, but there was no elevator, so getting bags up to the third floor was a chore.
Finally, for that price, they did not have a fitness room. A hotel for half the price in Collingwood had a fitness room.
Moral of the story is book a fair-price room well ahead when visiting Collingwood or Wasaga Beach
