House is not private
The listing is for a house that sleep 7 with a pool but should be for an apartment. This is a single family house that has been split into 3 units. The unit I rented through VRBO has permanent tenants in attached spaces below and beside the space I had access to. Sitting in the living room area I could clearly hear the basement tenant’s conversations coming up from the stairwell. The pool is also easily seen from all units and has a camera pointed directly at the pool so it feels more like a motel where all the rooms are overlooking the pool. At night, when all the tenants are home from work, there are 5 additional cars in the shared driveway, two of which are directly outside the master bedroom windows. There was also a smell of marijuana smoke coming from one of the units every 30 minutes or so. I would not have rented this property if the listing said it was shared and I’m glad I only stayed for two nights. Between having to keep my kids quiet, keeping the shades drawn for privacy, being surrounded by windows overlooking my family when outside, hearing neighbors through walls and smelling weed smoke it felt like all the things I hate about the city followed me to a country house.
