I was looking for quiet. I wanted to relax and read, undisturbed, and this place was better than I had hoped. The unit was clean very comfortable. It’s not a cabin (it’s not rustic at all) it’s a “tiny house” of clean contemporary decor and the amenities…just shrunk. The house is right next to the owner’s house, which was a little concerning when I first pulled up, but I never heard any one and only saw the owners on a couple occasions. The property is quite large, approximately 300 yds to the stream in the back which is where I spent every day. There was a hammock and camp chairs, a large tin roof covered area (with a bench swing) where i ducked under when some rain squalls moved through the area on a couple days. The sound of the stream and the birds was all I could hear with the pleasant exception of a few minutes of heavy rain in a metal roof. It was exactly what I wanted and I will certainly stay there again if I back in the area.

The property was absolutely beautiful as well as the interior of the cottage. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the sounds of nature. The farm animals were also very friendly as well as the owners. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with a country aesthetic. Will definitely stay here again!

Great property!

Perfect property to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The cottage is nicely equipped for a 2 person stay with newer amenities. My wife looked forward to having a morning cup of coffee with the goats, and we took some time to explore the river frontage which is beautiful.

Nice Overnight Stay

This is a nicely furnished and very clean cabin. It is a few miles from Winston Salem and close to several area attractions. Also close to several restaurants in Walnut Cove. Try the Olympic Restaurant, you won't be disappointed. Mel's Country Cottage makes a great overnight stop if you are in the area. All of my questions were answered quickly by the owners. Try it, you'll like it.

Fabulous and Relaxing Place to Stay

Me and my husband just wanted a quick and easy place to get to not far from home and this was perfect. We wanted to go to Old Salem and Mt. Airy and this was a perfect place in between. The space was warm and inviting. There were snacks and fresh eggs to cook, if desired. We loved walking down to the creek and enjoying the beautiful grounds. The owners are super nice!!

Short mother/daughter getaway

We had an amazing stay at Cindy’s property. We just wanted to getaway and enjoy nature and Cindy’s property gave us that and more!! We didn’t stay long but we left refreshed and rejuvenated and we would love to come back and stay longer.

Down Home Country Living

We loved our stay at Mel’s Country Place. The pictures don’t do it justice. But how do you capture on film the experience of country life? Imagine the front porch swing, chickens in the pen, goats playing, huge gentle farm dogs coming to say hello, a country road walk to the babbling creek, hosts checking to make sure you’re comfortable, fresh eggs as a gift, and cozy well decorated accommodations for two. Wonderful experience! Wish we could have stayed longer!

We very much enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room for the dogs to stretch thier legs and play in the ponds and creek. The fenced porch for the dogs to dry off on was perfect. It was a short trip over to Mayo River State Park. It wasnt crowded and it was beautiful. We slept great, the cabin was warm, tv was easy to operate, and everything was well stocked. We needed a place to rest with our pups and this was probably our best VRBO find ever. We hope to come back soo. Thank you for having us!

Great little getaway!

Mel's Country Cottage was the perfect cozy place to stay. The property is BEAUTIFUL, and a walk down by the creek was a great way to stretch our legs after the drive down. (Honestly, we wish we had planned a little more time in our stay to simply enjoy some time down by the creek.) The cottage itself was the perfect size for 2 people. The bed was comfortable, the furnishings were cozy and top quality, and the phone pocket on the sheets was a pleasant surprise (blew my husband's mind). Location is convenient to Hanging Rock and Winston-Salem, and we even popped over to Greensboro to meet a friend for dinner, but that was a bit longer of a drive. Mel's Country Cottage is definitely one of the best places I've found on Vrbo.
