The Alder house with a Park view!

Alder House rose out of the ashes of a blue-bird cottage. Construction began in 2016 and completed in 2019. Its idyllic location across for Pioneer Park gives it impressive landscaping views and much territory to walk, jog, and enjoy the seasons.
This house is ~3500 square feet of spacious modern living. It has five bedrooms, five bathrooms on three floors with master bedroom en suites located on the main floor and the upstairs level. Each floor entertains comfortably and is complete with big screen televisions placed strategically throughout. Furnishings are a combination of new and vintage old where your eyes will not be disappointed. The kitchen is large, functional and well equipped to easily handle a crowd and our guests needs. Outdoor privacy decks off the kitchen and master bedrooms offer dining, solitude, and places to contemplate daily or worldly events over a favorite beverage.
This house welcomes all size groups and is close to Whitman College and Downtown and can be accessed by an easy walk.
Alder House is the nearby companion to our other five star rated VRBO house, “Beau Bella”. Although Alder House is new to our VRBO collection of fine houses in Walla Walla, it too will prove itself worthy of generating its own great reputation by providing our guests a great, positive and superb stay.

  • One of the oldest mansions in Walla Walla, this house was built around 1880 and now serves as a museum depicting daily Victorian life on the frontier. From the website: When built, the Kirkman’s home was one of the grandest residences in Walla Walla reflecting tastes of the day and wealth generated by the ranching business. Now the Victorian Italianate house remains the only example of its kind locally, though vestiges of early 20th century architecture can be found throughout Walla Walla. In its heyday, the house was the setting for lavish entertaining, as well as for routine activities of daily American Victorian life. In addition to being home for the Kirkman’s, it also served as a boys’ dormitory for Whitman College from 1920-1924. During this time Walter Brattain, 1956 Nobel Prize winner for the co-invention of the transistor, studied in the home. The house was elected to the National Historic Register in December of 1974 and has been run as a non-profit organization since 1981.

This is the most beautiful place we have stayed ! The beds are so comfortable all of them are. There was ten of us we were all going to my granddaughter's wedding, this place is such a joy to stay at we enjoyed this house so much ! Fantastic Property

Eight of us were visiting Walla Walla for a wine trip and this property was absolutely ideal. The 'three levels' made for lots of space to spread out. Kitchen worked very well for us 'foodies' to fix nice meals. Bonus points for having a table that could easily seat 8 people. BTW - the furniture is totally top notch and the house could not have been more comfortable. I knocked 1 star off the 'location' only because the neighbors on one side partied quite late into the evening on Sat night. - no idea if this is a 'regular' thing or not

Perfect home for 10 Friends

Our Bunco group traveled to Walla Walla from Spokane. The house was perfect for the 10 of us. The kitchen had anything you would want for a gormet meal. The house was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We loved the large patio area we could all enjoy wine and conversation.We walked down town for lunch and shopping. Absolutely no complaints.

We had an amazing stay at this house. Without a doubt, this is one of the best experiences we've ever had on VRBO! The house is lovely and well-furnished. But, what was so great was that the kitchen was so well stocked! This seems to be the home of someone who loves to cook and entertain! There was even a drawer full of plastic and glass storage containers for leftovers! That's next-level hosting! Also, the out-door dining area was perfect for hosting a luncheon! So many thoughtful touches throughout the house to make our stay so enjoyable! My brother-in-law took one look at the place and is already planning on booking home this fall!

Perfect house for a family gathering of 10. Lots of good indoor and outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy and a well stocked kitchen. Super clean and comfortable in the great location across from the park - close to Whitman and downtown. The house is stocked with everything you may need. 50th birthday wine tasting

We stayed for my wife's 50th birthday. We went wine tasting. The location is perfect for most of the wineries. We also had a chef come for the birthday dinner and that kitchen is well set up for professional cooking. All 5 bedrooms are attached to bathrooms. Most of them have their own access to outside. The basement has a spectacular woman cave with a very casual hang vibe and huge TV. We all had a great time and were very comfortable. In the end we all wished we could take the house with us.
