"My wife and I stayed at this hotel 12 months ago and had a fantastic time, fast forward 12 months I booked the same type room as I was taking my son down, what a terrible experience!!!!!. When we arrived I noticed the shutters were down on the bar, we checked in and went upto our room, the room was clean and tidy. On our way out I asked about booking breakfast and was told the resturant and bar were closed because the hotel had been taken over a month ago, I asked about the parking permits to park outside and was told that the new owners needed to contact the local council, so had to pay full price for on street parking. When we came back we noticed it was warm in the hotel , we got up to our room and found the radiators were on, I went down to reception and asked them to turn the heating off 2 hours later it was back on again. The following morning we used the shower which drained away so slow there was about 3 inch's of water in the tray and all this muck was coming into the tray, I told the staff on our way out and was told they would look at, when we got back late afternoon and checked it was still the same condition as we had left it, once again that evening after we came back the heating was on once again. We checked out the following morning the guy on reception was on his mobile phone and didn't even speak as I gave him the key. WON'T BE STAYING THERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Lovely staff, very helpful. Decent hotel, good location for golf and racing. Shame about the restaurant though. Disappointing starter of ‘succulent prawns’ and crab custard. Instead of prawns they used tiny shrimps and couldn’t taste any crab. We ordered two starters, but were told after ordering that that only had one left. Bearing in mind this was only at 6pm, I hope no one else wanted the same! They did deduct it off the bill however. We ordered chip with our mains but had to wait until halfway through before they arrived."

"Felt a little in need or some refurbishment- stayed in a deluxe double room - mirror above bath was filthy Bathroom was old and in need of modernisation Used facilities but lots of children screaming in the pool - not the relaxation we planned for "
