Affordable, bed was comfortable, easy access to the showers and toilet. I also like how near it is to the ferry terminal. I am just disappointed the lamp by the lower bunk in Cell 27 was not working, and the wall outlet is a bit far from the beds.

I liked that it was very close to the ferry and the only few things I didn't like was that the bed made very loud creaking noises and the last thing is something a little more personal and that is that I would have liked to have some more directions for where the baggage room was and which way to find the rooms that one was given. But otherwise I had a very good last night sleep in Visby.

Cool place

Location on harbor was perfect since we took a boat out of Gotland. Cool place with interesting history. We actually never stay at hostels and we’re pleasantly surprised about the nice people we met in the kitchen. Well equipped kitchen and ICA grocery store was very near. Only bad thing was their nonexistent communication and others seem to share the opinion. We tried to confirm that our linen order was ok and ask for the door code since office is manned only 10 am -2 pm and check in starts at 3 pm. We tried to call several times on check in day during the office hours, but no one answered. Our friends in Sweden also kept on trying since we had to go to the airport. That was unnecessary excitement and could be easily corrected. I still recommend it tho.

The Visby Fängelse hostel is a practical place to stay in Visby, well located just outside of the ferry. The vintage wallpaper and historical decor elements are nice and funny, as well as the experience of sleeping in what used to be a prison. However, there is almost no staff, only staff at the bar somewhat know what’s happening. There are not enough showers and toilets for the number of guests. Renting sheets and towels is outrageously expensive. The respect of quiet jours (starting at the usual 11pm) for the evening is a myth ; we had to try falling asleep while other guests were partying in the common spaces, which were gross the following morning. We put food in the fridge and one of our yogourts and some fruit mysteriously disappeared.

Solid hostel in Visby

Overall a good stay. Kitchen felt a bit run down. And if you are tall you will for sure bounce your head in the door damper in the low cell doors. They are mounted so there is a peace of meral sticking out a foot into the room. Luckily i wasnt so tall that I got them in the eye but my forehead took some beatings. But what I couldnt understand is why they have motorbikes inside the halls and saloons as decoration. They take up space, and hinder walking, and the space could be used much better. In addition they look ugly and out of the place. The decision to put them there is the dumbest thing I have seen in any hostel. Otherwise the establishment delivered to expectations.

Bra i sin helhet, men utslag är inte okej.

Dålig ventilation på rummet , men man får väl såklart vad man betalar för och det gäller de allra mesta. Men att det känns som att det är nå djur eller liknande i täcket och både jag och min partner vaknade upp med konstiga röda märken på fötter och ben .

Rummet er kun til EN person!!!! - Ingen plads mellem sengene - Man skal ud på gangen for at få plads til at tage tøj på. Her forkert at kalde rummet for dobbelt rum. Utætte vinduer og der kommer regn ind . Der er ingen kroge til tøj på baderummet/toilettet + ingen hylder eller kroge. Køkkenet ekstremt beskidt, køleskab kan ikke lukkes ordentligt. Generelt meget nedslidt og det må være meget utilfredsstillende for personalet at stædda/ rengøre. Måske en trend men alle flader burde males og vinduer pudses.

Perfekt under Stockholmsveckan!

Jag och min vän bokade detta boende till stockholmsveckan och vi älskade det! Man kan beskriva att det är som att bo på kollo, små rum, allting är inte 100% bra kvalité och renligheten kan ifrågasättas, MEN upplevelsen, personerna och mysigheten var helt fantastisk! Trevlig personal och tydliga instruktioner på hur man checkar in och ut (det var skönt att man kunde checka in själv). Det var även väldigt trevligt att det fanns många ”allrum” både ute och inomhus. Men även den härliga uteserveringen! Supermysig servering där man har en väldigt fin utsikt över hamnen. Det erbjöds liveband (Dogge doggelito) med mat och dryck. Vi kollade även fotbollsmatchen där, vilket var väldigt roligt. Vi håller inte med om dessa dåliga recensioner! Man får helt enkelt det man betalar för! Om man vill ha mer privat (inte ungdomar som festar till 7 på morgonen) så ska man inte boka vistelse under Stockholmsveckan, och om man vill ha ett ”fräschare” ställe så får man lägga några hundralappar till och bo någon annanstans! Detta boende är för dig som är en pank ungdom som gillar att festa och socialisera sig, för fängelset blir som ett eget litet samhälle.

Fem nätter i fängelse.

Trevligt vandrarhem nära till allt. Med gångavstånd till Gotlandsfärjan, glassmagasinwt ich cykeluthyrningen. Sonen på 13 år tyckte att det var spännande att få bo på ett fängelse! Några negativa saker; knarrande och lite gnisslande våningssängar i metall. Dammigt ffa i fönsternischen. Ingen källsortering av förpackningar i köket förutom glas och matrester/ kompost. Men vi trivdes ändå bra och återkommer gärna nästa sommar.
Sonen gillade fönster-smygen. Men det området städades nog aldrig.
