  • The Church of Santa Lucia, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, is located on the hill of the same name in the city of Viana do Castelo. The church was built on the site of a small medieval chapel, known as a pilgrimage site for people with eye diseases. The construction of the temple lasted from 1904 to 1959. The eclectic-style Miguel Ventura Terra project combines neo-romanticism, neo-Gothic and Byzantine architecture. It is generally accepted that the architect was inspired by the forms of the Sacre Coeur Basilica in Paris. To the foot of the church at a height of 195 meters above sea level there is a line of a funicular built in 1923. Tourists can take the elevator to the observation deck under the very dome of the church. A panoramic view of the Lima River valley, mountains and the Atlantic Ocean opens from the platform. In 1927, National Geographic magazine named this species the third most beautiful in the world.

Vue mer exceptionnelle

Maison très agréable pour des vancances en famille avec des espaces de vie séparés, une salle de jeux pour enfants très appréciée. Une vue sur la mer excptionnelle pour les couchers de soleil et un jardin magnifique. Maison très bien équipée et chaleureuse.

La tranquillité au bord de l’océan

Une maison très agréable à vivre et confortable pour être au calme avec une vue magnifique sur l’océan et à proximité d’une belle plage. Tous les services sont aussi à proximité. Il manque juste un peu de mobilier extérieur (table et chaises) par rapport à la capacité d’hébergement de la maison. Nous avons pu combler cela avec nos affaires personnelles et nous avons passé de superbes vacances. C’était top!

Lovely cliff top house

We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous property. Location is stunning - right by the lighthouse, short walk down to the beach. You can walk into the local village as well where we found a great bakery and amazing value restaurant Sergio. Comms with the owner were great and with the lovely housekeeper Paula who can come in and clean during your stay. Could do with a larger outdoor dining table but that is the only improvement I can think of. The house is very well equipped. Thank you!

Great House !

We had a wonderful stay. The house has a great location and is a short walk to the sea. The house is ideally located to make excursions and explore northern Portugal. Everything in the house was well equipped and there was nothing missing. We would come back at any time.

Exceptional Place

The house - built by a famous portuguese atchitect - is perfectly situated on a hill by the atlantic. There are spectacular sunsets over the sea every evening. It’s only a 5 minute beautiful walk to the coastline with huge beaches and neolithic stone carvings. Contact and service by the owner was also perfect. Housekeeping available. Great surfspot nearby (Afife). We had a wonderful time. Definitely recommended!

Magic place!

It was a very pleasant stay! Amazing view and sunsets. The house was very comfortable and enough space for all of us. Complete equipement in the kitchen and around the house. The area is full of nice beaches! Easy to hike or with car. We had an amazing time with the whole family!

Interesting house in a beautiful spot

A large family group of us stayed here. The property would be ideal for those with young children. The highlight is the wonderful walk to the beach, through the heather and wild flowers with the surf crashing against the rocks. Lovely sandy beach too. The garden is large and there are superb sunsets. The kitchen is very well equipped, but for a large group of adults the house is a little short on dining space. Similarly, most of the beds are a bit rudimentary for adults: single and not very comfortable. (Although the master bedroom is outstanding!). The house is modern and has an interesting history. We loved the place, but we will probably come with a smaller group next time.

Une maison chargée d'histoire dans un cadre idyllique

Cristovao est disponible, efficace. Le séjour dans sa maison a été un vrai bonheur, elle est située à quelques centaines de mètre d'une plage magnifique. L' architecture est atypique, et le jardin splendide. Pas assez de mots pour vous dire à quel point le séjour nous a été agréable.
