We booked this flat many months in advance, persuaded by the images and high ratings. Whilst the location and general layout is good, the overnight experience unfortunately did not match expectations.
Firstly, the beds are very ‘basic’, worn and uncomfortable. Neither of us managed to get proper sleep during our four night stay.
Secondly, the shower was dreadful: Awkward to use, the overhead spout didn’t function, the water temp fluctuated and never got very hot. The bathtub surface was also chipped/stained and there was black mould all over the tile grout. This is gross and unacceptable, but it also posed a real health issue because I’m allergic to mould and became congested during the stay. The bathroom tap also had a crude fix presumably to deal with a countertop that failed (not shown in pictures).
Thirdly, there is a step up to the living rooms and bedrooms. Although this may not seem like a big deal at first, it’s an awkward trip hazard that one inevitably forgets in the middle of the night.
Overall, this flat has potential and was probably ‘better’ when new, but it was not good value for our visit to Venice. We would have been better off staying elsewhere.
The primary contact and secondary person who let us into the flat were responsive and helpful, so I trust they are well intentioned. But they need to do proper maintenance and invest in better sleeping mattresses at a minimum.
