The Jewish Center of the Hamptons

I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience. What should have been a wonderful holiday ended in an extremely stressful and upsetting way. On my final night, I was accused of smoking in my room and told I would be charged a smoking fee. This was shocking because I have never smoked or vaped in my life, and no one smoked in my room during my stay. I asked the manager to inspect the room with me, as I was confident there would be no evidence of smoking. My request was refused, and I was told the report was sufficient. What made the situation even more upsetting was that the hotel attempted to charge to my payment card. When the payment was unsuccessful, I was told that my security deposit would not be refunded. I felt I was being treated as though I had done something wrong without any meaningful opportunity to challenge the allegation. The first manager I spoke to was understanding and at least listened to my concerns, for which I was grateful. Unfortunately, my experience with the 2nd manager was completely different. I found him dismissive, unwilling to listen to my explanation, and unwilling to consider my request for a room inspection. I fully support hotels enforcing no-smoking policies. However, guests should be treated fairly, and serious accusations should be investigated thoroughly. Instead of leaving New York with happy memories, I left feeling stressed, upset, and deeply disappointed by the way I was treated.
