We arrived late, close to midnight. We found the address post a little difficult to understand as it's posted on the opposite side of the street to the left where the rental is on the right. We figured it out. No outside lights were on, nothing. Absolutely pitch black. Couldn't see more than a foot in front of us. Walked down the path to see the house. We walked up to it & punched in the codes only for it not to wk. My husband tried multiple times aswel but we eventually got in. Our two dogs bolted inn & the four of us did aswel. We noticed immediately that there were things left on the table & the kitchen island had dishes all over it. We then saw shoes at the front door. We immediately thought other ppl r in here so we rushed out. Put our kids & dogs back in the car. My husband & I walked back up the path to figure this out. Saw another house way off in the distant to the right so we walked over & tried the code. We got in with no problem. No shoes, no mess, this must be our place.
It was absolutely unsettling to know we walked into someone else's rental. We could barely see where we were going. If the owners have two rentals then they need to clearly identify them maybe as cottage A & B with signs pointing to which house cause they look identical. It could have been a nightmare if the other renters woke up or if my bulldog heard shuffling in a bedroom. He would have 100% attacked. I am still unsettled by all this & I find it hard to belive the owner didn't seem bothered by this one bit after I had text her what happend.
Also, the bed covers barely cover the bed. Thankfully we had brought a lg blanket with us. If we hadn't, we be cold. With two ppl in queen bed, u should have covers that overlap the bed. The cover barely overlapped.
Another HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT was they had NO COFFEE (no coffee maker of any kind) which should be the bare basics! Absolutely unheard of esp with a vrbo.
