The drive into and out of Stewart is incredible. We drove from Anchorage to a southern Oregon and this was my favorite stay as far as the views. The Lodge was very clean, no 5 star hotel but a nice resting stop. We were told to check ourselves in, the key was in the door. So we didn’t see anyone during our stay. We stopped by a little market for breakfast, the sausage pastry didn’t look great but it was delicious, we almost went back for another! Lesson learned, the gas prices are cheaper in Stewart than going south at nearby stations so fill up there!

They moved us to a different property, The Bayview. It was clean but you don't want to stay there if you have equilibrium issues. The floors are all off filter. The bed was a double and comfy as my hubby and I sleep in a double at home... and they had adjusted the frame so the bed was at least level. The shower didn't get very hot but at least it wasn't cold... there is off street parking and a back stairwell which is narrow and steep... it was well located to be able to walk to everything we wanted to see in Stewart. The price was reasonable .

Good in a pinch.

Odd place, but comfortable. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone. Up a steep flight of stairs to the 2nd level where all the rooms are located.

This is a great location for many wilderness experiences. We had access to a kitchen and a lovely Mexican restaurant within walking distance. The view from our room was awesome. We were able to go back and forth to Hyder, Alaska for grizzly bear watching at Fish Creek. It was so much fun. We also drove up to see the Salmon Glacier; beautiful. The road was quite an adventure.

Check in was as simple as walking into my room. The owner left me a message explaining the self check in. Room was clean, simple and comfortable. There is a shared common area with a kitchen, cookware, dining table and couch with TV. Short walk around the block and you will find a few restaurants. I enjoyed my stay at the SML!

Unique

Surprised to find their is no staff on site but that’s no problem since everything needed is provided and the owner is only a phone call away. Very nice room and very quiet. Outdoor tables and chairs provided for relaxation and to enjoy the spectacular views. It’s just off the Main Street and attractions. Highly recommend.
