Loved the location, wildlife, and outdoor space. Screen porch and swing were great. Mattress could use an update, but otherwise the cabin was well equipped and provided a comfortable stay.
Great location which allowed us to be isolated when we were unwinding from the day yet close enough to experience the places we had planned. It wasnt fancy yet had all we needed.
We loved our stay here. The host offered the perfect amount of communication and was availavle by text if needed. It was nice and secluded with an amazing view of the water and wildlife, yet close to town.
This property was absolutely lovely! Gorgeous views of the water right from the porch, the pictures on the listing do not do it justice. About an hour drive to Acadia and the perfect place to crash after long days of hiking in the park. No Wifi available at the house but never had any problems accessing cell service. Property was very clean and the hosts were highly responsive and helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and grocery stores.
This property was so charming and absolutely beautiful view of the ocean! Very quiet, which was exactly what we wanted. Communication with the host was excellent, about an hour from Bar Harbor but the drive isn’t bad at all. Highly recommend!!
Really nice cottage and awesome view from the porch! Pam, Amy's Mother is really helpful for anythings we needed .
A bit far from the Acadia NP, but was doable (~1h).
Property has great charm, having been given much family love and care over the years. The legacy of a Sea Captain and his family is an overarching theme done in a respectful and subtle and memorable way. We enjoyed our twentieth wedding anniversary at this beautiful spot with easy access to wildlife preserves, hikes and Acadia National Park.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It's located in such a beautiful place. After long hikes at Acadia it was a pleasure coming back to the serene gorgeous views at the cabin. It sounds like some of the neighbors do construction work at certain times of day, but generally it's very very peaceful. We also had some issues with water pressure and overall the tap water is not potable in the house, but otherwise we had everything we needed.
We stayed as a family of 3 in the fantastic Maine cottage. We relaxed with the million dollar view of the ocean. It didn’t feel like real life being there. Everything was as expected. Quaint, slightly rustic, and homey. I cooked up breakfast each morning and then relaxed on the beach while looking for cool shells. My daughter became a fan of finding sea glass. Having grown up in Minnesota, we have similar cabins on our lakes and this felt like home to us but close to all the uniqueness that Down East Maine has to offer. We visited Acadia, Bar Harbor, Schoodic, Winter Harbor and even took a trip to Lubec. Watching the sunsets and the tide coming in each evening were a highlight. Thanks to Pam and Amy. The instructions to enter were clear. Pam called us beforehand to give us details of where exactly to find the cottage. So incredibly nice and helpful! Highly recommend this authentic, family friendly stay!
We loved this little spot on the coast! It was a good base of operations to be able to get to Acadia and Bar Harbor without having to stay in the very crowded/touristy areas. Due to its remoteness, it took a little planning ahead for things like Groceries, but this was a classic Maine camp experience. It reminded me a lot of going to visit my Grandmother's house as a kid. It has everything you would need for a cozy/comfortable time away, but is definitely a very authentic camp experience. Don't expect big plush king beds, wifi (we had no problem getting service/data at the camp), or a bunch of trendy restaurants or shops close by.
The location and view is absolutely incredible. It was lovely to nap in the rain, or to go bird watching early in the morning. We watched eagles, osprey, and cormorants fishing, as well as tons of other birds (chickadees, flickers, blue jays, kingfishers, goldfinches, hummingbirds, etc.). I would happily stay here again. Despite it being brand new to us, it felt incredibly nostalgic and it will hit the spot for those looking for an authentically and unapologetically 'Maine' experience.
This camp was the perfect spot to call home base while we explored Maine! We saw a bald eagle, seal and great blue heron all from the front porch, not to mention the beautiful sunsets every night. Can’t wait to come back!
Simple and charming; Osprey, Bald Eagles, seals, Great Blue Heron and the humming of lobster boats. Comfortable and quiet with lots of character given that Captain Rhoades still manages the place.
Cozy secluded and oh so quiet! No tv or WiFi which was fantastic for relaxing for a few days. Ver clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Within an hour of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The views were breathtaking!! Highly recommend!
Peaceful, comfortable and fun. The place came as advertised, right on Gouldsboro Bsy. An eagle was hanging out right next to us! It is close to the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. We hiked and biked there, the views of the coast are phenomenal. We also hiked on the Pigeon Hill Preserve in Steuben, great views from there as well.
