Quick overnight stay

We stayed at the log home on our way from NH to NC. It was clean and had everthing we needed. Check in was a breeze and the owner communicated throughout the process. Would 100% stay again.

Peaceful Cabin

VA slice of heaven

We stayed in the Log Home for a night on the way from FL to NY. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I could have stayed a week in the cozy cabin. The entire process was easy and relaxing. I was looking for a hotel on 95 to stay with my dogs. This property is better than any hotel I could think of.Loved it

Great Experience

The Log Home at Stevenson Ridge was perfect. The place was as described. The grounds were even better. Our dog enjoyed the walks and the trails. We plan to make this a regular stop on our summer travels.

Authentic log home in beautiful location

This is our second VRBO stay at Stevenson Ridge, even better than the first. This is a great collection of well appointed private VRBOs in a beautiful and safe rural setting. For Civil war history buffs, there is a memorable hike on the property that you can take to see remaining defensive line earthworks. There are some neat history books to purchase as well. We will be back for sure.

A historic time in a historic place!!!

My husband and I LOVED the Log Home at Stevenson Ridge. Our hosts were super friendly and accommodating and the check in and out processes were very easy and efficient. My husband and I were looking for a short getaway during the Presidents Day holiday weekend and could not have picked a better location! The location was quiet, serene and peaceful, yet conveniently near places to eat, shop and explore. We spent some time in the historic Downtown Fredericksburg district--which wasn't too far from the lodge. My only gripe is that it was too chilly for me to explore the trails and earthworks at Stevenson Ridge--even more reason for us to return during a warmer month! My profession is in the field of historic preservation and I was super impressed with how maintained and true to its historic character the lodge is--while having modern accommodations that travelers expect. From the gorgeous fireplaces and mantles to the beautifully decorative vases, wash bin and iron kettle(s), I truly felt as if we had stepped back in time! The log home was lovely and the landscape provided us with a peaceful retreat that we were seeking. This is hands down at the top of our list of favorite places and we hope to return again soon!

Overly impressed with this home!! The property is lovely, the home is super convenient but far enough away from the road that you just hear the distant rumble. Idyllic views in a super serene setting. Eclectic and historical estate with really interesting stories! The hosts are extra thoughtful, leaving treats, bags, bowls, and a soft blanket for my dog! I need to come back and stay longer… perfect for an introvert getaway or small family.

Anniversary Weekend

We were looking for a quiet/relaxing getaway for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. Sitting on the front porch enjoying our morning coffee was so peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be returning maybe in the fall time so we can appreciate all the fireplaces as well as all the other things about the cabin.

Loved It

Wife, and I made a traveling trial run with our 8 month old dog. We couldn’t have picked a better location. The cabin was awesome. The walking trails on the property was just what we needed to exercise our dog, and also learned about the Civil War history right on the property. Stevenson Ridge, such a beautiful property !

Beautiful historic cabin with modern conveniences!

So cozy and beautiful, but all the comforts of today. Our favorite part was the huge front porch with rockers overlooking the pond! Tucked away and very private yet so close to all the wonderful things to see and do! Management brought their “A” game. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the whole experience!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

The Log Cabin at Stevenson Ridge is a wonderfully authentic cabin that's perfect for a couple or small family. It is both rustic and modern at the same time in that you can literally see through the floorboards (no insulation) but can enjoy WiFi and TV. There are fireplaces in each room (used seasonally) and the cabin is full of personality and charm. The service could not be any more responsive and personable. This is a hidden gem and one that gave us great memories of a perfect weekend getaway.

Quick stay

I really liked the property. Nice area and quiet. Did not know the property was also a wedding venue and other functions. We had a nice stay overnight on our return trip from Cedar Island North Carolina. The cabin was rustic but charmingly decorated. It felt like I was in a period museum. Cabin was larger than I expected. I enjoyed reading about the history of area with the pamphlets inside. Great stay, and very restful. I would definitely recommend and stay again in the future.

Wonderful weekend

The Log Home was the perfect location for exploring the area. We enjoyed fishing at Lake Anna and at the pond on the property, wine and beer tasting at Wilderness Run Winery and 1781 Brewery, dining in Fredericksburg and touring the local battlefields. The Log Home itself is charming and comfortable. The porch so inviting. We ordered breakfast through the property; it was delivered promptly at the time we requested and was delicious.

Great property

We really enjoyed our 2 stays here. It was our midway stop while going to visit family. The log cabin is so cozy and the entire property has a great history. The steps to the bedroom are quite steep, but other than that it was perfect for us.

Unbelievable Cabin on the Spotsylvania battlefield.

This place was amazing It was giant with a beautiful porch overlooking a small lake. It was a refitted cabin with an all around excellent look and feel. The staff was great and even had dog treats and a dog bed ready for my Yoda. The location was perfect as I was with a friend on a major civil war tour. You could literally walk through the trails nearby to the Spotsylvania battlefield. We wish we would have scheduled more than one day here. I cannot recommend it enough. I will definitely stay here again when I’m in the area.

Rejuvenation and peace!

We had such a wonderful stay at the log cabin. It felt a world away from DC, but was only 1.5 hours away. We relaxed by the fire pit and watched the peaceful pond. Hiked on the path just off of the house and felt like we walked back in time. We hope to come back!

Great Getaway Close to DC

Great retreat just an hour outside of DC. The house is located on a private property with several other historic cabins, so it’s secluded yet also close to modern conveniences (restaurants, grocery stores, CVS, etc.). The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. The only drawback is that cooking options are limited - no range/stove, so be prepared to make your meals in the toaster oven and/or microwave only.

March getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at the Log Cabin for two nights. Traveling with our two dogs, arriving found dog bowls with treats and a blanket for each really a nice touch! We met Jennifer(property manager) the next morning while out for a walk with our dogs, she was more than happy to show us around and give us the backstory to the property! She couldn’t have been a nicer person! We had such a great visit! And look forward to returning soon. BTW you must have the meat&cheese platter and the breakfast were outstanding! Many thanks, Roxy&Rick jack and bear too!
