Yes, you read that right. A short private trail enters park property and leads to a connector of the Western Mountain trail.
A short drive west of Southwest Harbor, you'll find this side of the park a bit less overwrought than the gridlock of Bar Harbor. Don't worry though, there are enough restaurants and cafes within a fifteen minute drive to cover all your meals.
The cabin sits along with another (soon joined by a third) on a wooded private parcel. The general area is unappealing light industrial, but that has no impact on the quallity of your stay.
The host was friendly, helpful, and unobtrusive. The property was neat with modern amenities permitting you to cook as much as desired. We used the gas heater a little, and found it responded quickly and effectively.
Definitely need a vehicle to stay here, but you'll find the park is really not hard to get around and there are many activities within a short drive.
