Nice place. Clean. If you stay 2 nights you can use the kayaks and canoes and paddle boards. Girls had fun jumping off the dock into the water. Would definitely go again.

This was everything we hoped it would be. Unique, private, clean, well equipped as it should be and convenient to the North coast for all the beauty and wilderness it has to offer. Everything worked except for the weather which no one can control. When I come back to Cape Breton, I will be booking Blue Bayou again and well in advance since it will soon be a must for thousands of Cabot Trail visitors throughout the season.

Such a tranquil & restful spot. Currently a work in progress. The access roads about the property need attention. The new geo-domes (permanent materials including glass) are amazing, they even include AC & constant hot water! The water sports equipment was in good working order & very much appreciated. A larger office welcoming guests which offered common camping foods & consumables etc would be very welcome & perhaps a nice little income stream - it wouldn't need to be open all day? With time & further work this place is gonna be a solid 5 stars!

The staff and owner were really great! We stayed for 2 nights and they helped us with getting kayaking ready. There are two issues we had, one was we didn’t realize how cold it gets at night (even in July). We stayed in an older plastic dome so it felt more like a tent. Make sure you bring winter PJs/extra layers. The other matter was outside of our control. The shower area drained towards the toilet so everything was wet after a shower. Aside from these two things everything else was amazing. I definitely want to come back but maybe stay in the hard domes with a kitchenette.

This was great experience in a glamping setting. The dome was comfortable and had all the required conveniences. The staff is excellent and caring. The property is great and the water views and activities are great.

Nice “glamping” experience. We had never done this kind of vacation but found it to be comfortable and easy Stephane is a great host and in process of major upgrades to the geodesic domes. Probably will be even better in 2026!

Great "glamping" experience. This was a great location for exploring Cape Breton Island with easy access to the Cabot Trail. The owners are great, quick with help for any concerns.

The stay was very comfortable, Owner very attentive. Since we stayed there for 2 nights, we had the opportunity to kayak for free. When it started to rain a little, the owner gave us a canopy to hide from the rain when we had lunch or dinner. The holiday was wonderful

Unique accommodation in a lovely local location

This is a unique place to stay, and set on a beautiful lake/calm water. The dome was great, 2 beds for the 4 of us, a great bathroom area, and another small area with a sink, kettle and some mugs. A fridge, or even communal fridge would have been a bonus, although we could hire a cool box with ice to help keep our food cool. Kayaks and SUPs are free to hire which is great along with like jackets, a real plus. Whilst there, they were working on building more pods, so not quite as peaceful as it could be with the work going on, but not a massive issue.

Overall loved our stay. Had thought we would have view of water but only 2 domes did. Overall area could be picked up a bit. And the cabin we stayed in might need fans provided for future hot (global warming) days. The host was delightful.

Wonderful! If you like camping with all the conveniences this is the place to go. The view is spectacular. You can go kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, etc. It's all free! I just wanted to let you know that there are no extra charges. Best of all, you get privacy. It was great!

While check-in was straightforward and the option to choose a dome was a thoughtful addition, the absence of a welcome pack—such as washing up liquid and cloth—was noticeable. Although the bed was spacious, the overall atmosphere lacked warmth and felt uninviting. In summary, the facility is in need of significant updates to enhance its appeal
