"Super practical and family friendly hotel in IKEA town Älmhult. Parking is free and safe outside. Passing through we appreciated the free to use washing facilities and the many games and activities the hotel offers. You even get free entrance to the IKEA hotel opposite, so follow the many signs to the museum, as many Sat navs will take you somewhere else.
Älmhult has excellent shopping on the outskirts of town as well.
Highly recommended as a practical stop over and of course a must if furniture...
"We had a nice visit to Kalmar and enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is convenient to the train station as well as the central part of the city. The breakfast is delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful. "

"We had a lovely stay. Breakfast was very calm. Staff was very friendly and honest about parking being free nearby during weekend and didn’t try to sell a space in their garage. The suite was beautiful and family friendly. A bit worn in places but cleaning was spotless and the first impression was well… impressive!
Only minus was the lack of drapes for the lower window in the middle of the suite as the neighbours across the street could easily see us at night and our kids like to run around...
"The hotel, spa and restaurant were great. The only complaint was the standard of the room, which really could do with a revamp (especially for 300 euro a night). A better bed, unscratched floor and smart TV would be a good start. The room looked like it hadn’t had an upgrade for about fifteen years."

"The main building of the Gyllene Uttern looks like a Scandinavian castle. Perched high above Lake Vättern, it has a grand view of the lake, whether from a large terrace, one of its several lounging spaces, a glassed-in dining room, or from rooms facing the lake. It also has a baronial dining room, in which the very good breakfast buffet is laid out. We dined there in the evening, as well, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed comfortable suites overlooking the lake. The one disadvantage is that the old, castle-like hotel does not have an elevator, which made carrying up luggage a challenge, especially as we three couples were of ages 60 to 82. There was no indication of staff to assist with the luggage, which is the reason I gave "Staff & Service" 4 stars instead of 5. It has two newer two-story auxiliary buildings, which do have elevators. We have stayed in these before. The rooms are very comfortable, but not as charming as staying in a pseudo castle. "

"150 year old architectural jewel of a hotel with gorgeous hard wood floors located in one of Scandinavia’s best kept secrets, Kalmar! Loved the town and one of Europe’s most picturesque castles. "
"Great, central location and excellent value for money. Not the most glamorous or modern but if you're looking for a clean, friendly place in central Kalmar, you can't do much better than this. Would absolutely stay here again. "
