This is a very basic fisherman’s resort. There were no photos on Expedia to go off of. The general manager was lovely and accommodating. Pros: small kitchenette, literally walk into the water views, and was quiet. Cons: there is a large light on the outside of the door that never goes off, no hairdryer, and the bedding had a couple spots of threadbare.

I was very happy with my room. Being a single female traveler, I was needing something clean and safe. This place was quiet, exceptionally clean, good shower pressure and (with the whole town) provided the sense of safety that was needed. Check in a simple phone call with no hassle as well. There were also two restaurants close by with a wonderful store just down the road. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

Location was awesome. It is in a beautiful area of Washington State with access to great beaches and hiking. The room was pretty poor. The Stove and cabinet combination was at least 80 years old. It was a King and according to AI was manufactured in the 60's or 70's. Part of the cabinet was duct taped shut and the other was rusted out. The toilet and shower were cramped, but were clean. The bathroom sink was next to the kitchen sink in the kitchen area. Our friends had a different room that was much nicer. We had a peak a boo view of the water, the friends had a picture window with a full view of the Straight of Juan De Fuca.

Property is set in a quaint town with very nice and hospitable people. The view from our unit was spectacular. Looking at the water across to Canada and fishing boats on the water was a very scenic view.

Scenery is great. Right on the water, and we saw several bald eagles. Room is rustic with a full kitchen. It was very peaceful, with quiet time at 10:00 pm.

The property clearly exists for fishermen. While the owner is very pleasant and chatty about local attractions the property falls short for “sightseers” especially for the price. The walls are very thin and the guests next door checked in after 10pm and stomped and thumped around and I could easily make out their conversation. I will say that the bed was very comfortable!

Enjoyed our visit. Beautiful sunrise, fun to watch the fishing boats come and go. We stopped here as a midway point for exploring the peninsula. Value was good, we had a great room upstairs at the end facing marina. Kitchenette that we forgot to prep to use. A fishing town, so not fancy but was comfortable, clean and friendly.

Van Riper's is a quaint, older motel used mainly by people staying there on a fishing vacation from what I can tell. The bed was comfortable, it was very quiet overnight, and we had nothing to complain about. It's older, and that shows, but everything worked and it was clean. There's a restaurant just across the road and up a bit, By The Bay Cafe, with astonishingly excellent food. Had one of the best omelettes of my life for breakfast there.
