About this property
Cozy and Charming Apple Blossom Retreat—Relax with Nature
Entering our country lane, you’ll begin to settle into the quieter pace of West Sonoma County life. Here we have the luxury of attuning ourselves to the rhythm of the natural world. You may see a family of deer (lately the does have been showing their fawns around the property), or if you are lucky a furtive fox, bobcat or soaring red tail hawk. But even in this country paradise we are only an hour away from the urban delights of San Francisco, twenty minutes from Santa Rosa, and eight minutes from downtown Sebastopol.
From here you can easily spend your days walking, jogging or surfing at gorgeous Pacific coast beaches, hiking in old growth redwoods, discovering world class wineries, exploring the many art galleries in our neighboring towns, browsing in unique boutiques featuring the works of local artisans, biking through the vineyards, kayaking the Russian River, dining in Zagat-rated restaurants, small, local bistros or oyster bars along the coast, or just relaxing here at Apple Blossom Retreat.
The cozy, wood-shingled studio, surrounded by wisteria, apple trees, and flowers on the two-acre property is your home away from home. It is attached to our larger, country home where we live right next door, but you are completely private with your own separate entrance. Your studio and our house are separated by an 8 foot utility/laundry area. We are right here if you need anything, but we completely respect your privacy and desire for peace and quiet.
There is a small garden patio for your personal use where you can sip coffee in the morning or enjoy a glass of wine after a day of exploring hidden wineries. On sunny days, curled up in a comfy armchair with a book, you can bask in sunlight pouring through the expanse of southern exposure windows; on rainy winter days you can watch the row of poplars dance in the wind.
We’ve made the spacious living room both comfortable and beautiful, adding a few country antiques from my beloved Midwest family home. The centerpiece of the room though is a stunning, antique Japanese screen that creates your private bedroom. There you can luxuriate in the queen bed with high thread count sheets and piles of fluffy pillows. The sounds you may hear are reminders of simple, country life: the screech of a barn owl out for a night hunt, coyotes on a far away ridge yipping at the full moon, or perhaps the distant crow of a rooster. We also have Wi-Fi, cable TV, and a DVD player for those wanting to be more connected.
There is a fully equipped kitchenette with refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, and a state of the art induction hot plate.
The studio cottage works well for a variety of Sonoma County travelers: adventurers wanting to explore the area, couples seeking a romantic retreat, or individuals seeking a quiet refuge for study, writing, artistic pursuits, or quiet contemplation.
At the end of the day enjoy a massage or enzyme bath at nearby beautiful Osmosis Day Spa, surrounded by an immaculate Asian garden, or just come on home and relax.
We look forward to meeting you and sharing the magic of Sonoma County.
PS - All the wildlife photos you see here were actually taken on the property, usually no more than 100 feet from the front door.

Clean, quiet, peaceful. Just what we wanted. Susan was available for restaurant recommendations, questions about WiFi—the gamut. Kitchenette with coffeemaker, microwave, and fridge made breakfast prep easy. Recommend!
We had a restful and restorative three days close to sustainable restaurants in both Sebastopol and Bodega Bay. Our hosts were welcoming and attentive.
We spent 5 relaxing days at Apple Blossom Retreat. Gary and Susan were wonderful, kind hosts. The property is beautiful. The cabin has all that we needed for our stay. The location is perfect for exploring west Sonoma. It was a wonderful retreat!
We had a happy relaxing stay. Enjoyed the gardens and watching deer and birds as we had our coffee. Hosts were so nice, helpful and friendly. Hope we can return!
This stay was shorter than planned but the hosts were so warm, welcoming, and accommodating. The studio is cozy and clean and the neighborhood was beautiful for a morning walk. Would definitely recommend booking!
We were in the area to attend a wedding and wanted to make it a relaxing weekend. The studio was cozy and comfortable. The quiet country location was just what we needed. Gary and Susan are wonderful people and excellent hosts. We definitely hope we can find some time and come back to this retreat.
Apple Blossom Retreat is a nice little studio tucked amid vineyards, apple orchards, and trails lined with blackberry bushes. Short drive to Sebastopol, Bodega Bay, and Sonoma. Susan and Gary were very friendly. Everything was exactly as described in the listing.

The Apple Blossom Retreat is absolutely perfect! Such a quiet neighborhood, such a comfortable bed (!!!), and such gracious, helpful hosts! Susan and Gary are the hosts of this lovely home-away-from-home cottage, which has a delightfully cozy feel, lovely furnishings, and lots of windows for daytime sunshine, plus easy-to-close blinds for nighttime darkness or privacy. I loved the full-size shower and spacious bathroom, which was equipped with everything I needed in the way of soaps, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, and plenty of towels. The little kitchen behind the bi-fold doors met my breakfast needs perfectly: small refrigerator and freezer, microwave, toaster oven, dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware. I didn't need more than that since I was visiting my family close by, but I noticed all the other kitchen conveniences provided, which other guests might find useful if more cooking is desired. There is a wide selection of books, a TV, a DVD player, and even a device for playing music. A table for two to eat at sits right by the front windows so I had a view of the inviting patio that's right outside the front door. These are thoughtful and conscientious hosts! Thank you, Susan and Gary! I'm certainly looking forward to staying here again very soon.
We had a wonderful stay at Apple Blossom retreat. What a gorgeous, peaceful place to spend a few days, a perfect sanctuary. The cottage has everything you need and Susan made us feel most welcome. We hope to return again in the future.
Great hosts, kind and helpful. Beautifully appointed and clean. The location is beautiful and secluded. For some it would feel isolated, but we enjoyed the peacefulness and natural beauty of the place. Sebastopol is acharming town to explore.
Great place and great hospitality from Susan and Gary. the wife and I had a great week with them, perfect place to stay its 20 minute drive to any where you need to be! Awesome place to stay highly recommend!!
Wonderful hosts in a wonderful property close to Sebastopol and the great wine valleys yet tucked away in a quiet retreat. Best of both worlds and best of hosts.
