"This cottage is rustic and charming. Its location is superb. Large and plentiful windows in the living room and dining area bring the bay into view at all times. Walking out of the porch merely steps will bring you directly onto the shore standing on a long stretch of Maine's characteristic granite rocks. The view is stunning and west-facing which means sun sets square center. Good rooms setup. Not a lot of surface areas on the 2nd floor for the up to 3 people that can potentially sleep there and a very, very small shower/toilet setup. Water pressure is good and gets hot immediately. Very good. Winter Harbor itself is small. Logistically this location is perfect for spending time in the Schoodic peninsula. We drove to Bar Harbor instead of taking the ferry, which is only a few minutes from the cottage. I have a feeling if you are okay with exclusively moving around on the Island Explorer, then taking the ferry will be excellent. The host was very quick to respond to my question. Wonderful stay would recommend."

"We had a wonderful stay! The house is tiny but incredibly charming, clean, and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and the location couldn’t be better. The water view is absolutely beautiful and so picturesque, with boats right outside.The restaurant next door, owned by the same owners, was a huge convenience, yet we never heard any noise from restaurant guests. It was actually wonderful being able to walk right over for a meal and then come back to our quiet little house by the water.A very comfortable, peaceful stay in a beautiful Maine setting. We would definitely stay here again!"

Historic Winter Harbor Cottage w/ Waterfront Views

"We absolutely loved our stay in Winter Harbor. The house exceeded our expectations and truly felt like staying in a little piece of Maine history. It was also a perfect home base for exploring the Down East region and Acadia National Park.We are always looking for quiet places where we can really get away and relax, and this was exactly that. One of the highlights of the entire stay was having coffee in the Adirondack chairs each morning, watching the tide come and go in Henry Cove. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet.We also loved being away from the crowds you find on Mount Desert Island while still having such easy access to Acadia. The Schoodic Peninsula was just minutes away and quickly became one of our favorite parts of the park.Another great option is the ferry to Bar Harbor, which is only about five minutes down the road. The boat ride is worth doing on its own, with beautiful views along the way, and it gets you into Bar Harbor in about 45 minutes without having to deal with the drive or parking.Winter Harbor itself was wonderful. There are several great restaurants nearby, with everything from very casual spots to some nicer options for dinner, so we never felt like we had to travel far.We rent a house somewhere in Maine every summer for our family vacation, and this was probably our favorite stay yet. A lot of that comes down to the location and the overall feel of the house. It is comfortable, peaceful, full of character, and just a great place to spend time together. Between the setting on Henry Cove, the history of the house, the quiet surroundings, and easy access to everything the area has to offer, it was exactly what we look for in a Maine vacation.We will definitely be back."
