Hurricane Ian Shelter
Could not be happier with the hosts or the home… we were in from Pittsburgh on vacation in Sarasota (on South Lido Key) with my sisters and their adult children when the path of Hurricane Ian changed and we became the likely landfall point.
Being on the 1st floor at the very end of a barrier island we had to scrabble to find shelter fast.
Everything seemed book, yet there were a few homes that seemed open but were not available on the VRBO app (likely needing one weeks notice to request a reservation). Well I sent out several emails to hosts and asked if their home was available and if they could reply quickly either way so I could book it or scratch it from the list of possible places to hunker down.
Well Megan was tremendous she replied very quickly and was very patient and accommodating since with the Hurricane approaching we were being told that we would be evacuated first thing in the morning from our units.
The home is beautiful and was very comfortable for our group. As we were pulling up Megan even had a crew there putting up metal Hurricane/storm panels on the windows.
We were hit hard for more than 9 hours with the eye of the hurricane being as close as 40 miles from the home for several hours… the home stood strong, which made us feel safe.
The power did go out during the Hurricane and did stay out for the remainder of our stay… but Megan and her husband and crew came through again but coming over and hooking up a portable generator to the home!
I could not recommend the home or Megan and company more highly!!! 6 out 5 Stars!!!
