The Neighborhood:
La playita It is a very popular fishing town near San José del Cabo, right in the heart of Puerto Los Cabos, near the east entrance of the new San José del Cabo Marina; you can find signs to the beach, you can get there from Boulevard Mijares, in front of the Fire Department, in the center.
This popular beach has been a favorite for locals who enjoy weekends; you can find the old markets, restaurants, shops, and businesses of La Playita, along with the new and luxurious facilities such as hotels, shops, a shipyard, a botanical reserve, and a church.
As for the beaches, a natural pool is enclosed within the marina entrance area and surrounding beaches that are safe for swimming, skimboarding, and fishing. At the east entrance of the new marina, the beach has a structure for children, bathrooms, palapas, and a fishing fleet.
The beaches are safe for swimming; however, we always recommend being careful; these beaches are very popular for surface and net fishermen.
As a fishing community, the panga flotilla offers coastal or offshore fishing expeditions for professional fishermen seeking marlin.

Getting Around:
To arrive in “La Playita”, there are a few transportation options depending on your starting point.
By Air: San Jose Del Cabo International Airport is located 30 minutes away from “La playita” Inside the airport you will find several options of transportation such as shuttle, taxis, uber, and several options for renting a car. Unfortunately, urban transportation like buses doesn’t have a route there yet.
Getting around the nearest city which is San Jose Del Cabo, is relatively easy once you arrive in La Playita Here are a few options:
Taxis/Uber: Taxis and Ubers are readily available in La Playita and can be hailed on the street or found at designated taxi stands. Make sure to agree on the fare with the driver before starting the journey, as most taxis do not have meters.
Rental Car: Renting a car is maybe the best option for mobility around this area, and by private car, you will find the main square of San Jose del Cabo just about 15 minutes away. San Jose del Cabo offers a variety of art galleries, restaurants, and bars. As a recommendation, every Thursday night there’s an art and wine walk on the main square of San Jose Del Cabo.

Great little place that needs attention
We really liked this apartment and I wish I could give it a more favorable rating. Here’s what we found when we arrived. Foul smell throughout. Reminded us of rotting garbage or an animal enclosure. We opened all the windows and the door, and turned on the fan, which seemed to take care of this. The toilet seat and lid were not attached to the base of the toilet. We were able to use it when we needed, but whoever cleaned the unit before we arrived could not have missed this. One of the legs on the bed was broken. We discovered this as we got into bed the first night when one corner of the bed hit the ground. We were able to reposition the leg so we could use the bed, but the connection was tenuous. It came off two other times. The freezer unit inside the refrigerator was a solid chunk of ice. Looked like the door had not been closed properly or that the door seal was bad. On day two, the ice was melting and forming a puddle inside the refrigerator. The shower drains slowly. There was standing water in the shower when in use. The bedside shelf on the right side of the bed was loose and tilted. Same side as the bad leg on the bed. We reported all of this to VRBO the following morning and received a message of acknowledgement stating also the owner/manager would be notified. No one contacted us about these issues. Sadly, I could have made these repairs (except for the refrigerator) but I don’t travel with a tool kit…because I shouldn’t have to!
